[history]
An American Airlines pilot flying passengers from Los Angeles to New York asked Christians on board to identify themselves and then suggested that non-Christian passengers discuss the faith with them, the airline confirmed Saturday.
The pilot, whose identity was not released, had been making flight announcements before he asked that the Christians on board raise their hands, said American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner.

Flying a plane requires discipline and the ability to follow a series of rules, exactly and to the letter, without deviation. Mistakes cost lives. I don't want the pilot blithering away about anything not related to the safe operation of the plane. As a passenger, I'd be pretty outraged. I flew Egypt Air from JFK to Cairo a few months before their pilot took a header into the ocean, glad I didn't have pilot that decided to school us all in Islam that night.

Quite simple: be consistant and you don't get in trouble.
I have no doubt this man is a good Christian and will take whatever results from his proclaiming his faith. And I have no doubt that our Savior will reward him for that, both now and in the future. He'll probably end up as a private pilot for a wealthy Christian that appreciates this man's bravery. Trust. God will reward his children.

Not only that but it violatres the 666th Amendment to the Constitution which enumerates the inalienable right not to be offended.

Its also the job of those who don't want to hear it, while stuffed into an aluminium tube going 500 MPH at 37,000 feet to tell the pilot to keep his religion to himself and not get on the PA and share it with everyone.
The pilot can talk all he wants about his religion, once the pilot cap is off and he is done with his shift and is on his own time. Very unprofessional behavior from a person who is supposed to display a professional attitude at all times on the job.

A stranger asking you about your religious beliefs is as rude as asking you about your sexual preferences. Private issues like that are not an appropriate thing to discuss with someone who you do not know.MM, you and LF aren't from England are you? They think it's rude over there to discuss religion in public too.

We just nicely asked that they not wear any pins of a religious, political or social stance. Then you violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the First Amendment to the Constitution.

These jokers would have shied away from signing the Mayflower Compact or Declaration of Independence for fear of offending the king! Glad our country was founded on men of principle, rather than the spineless that now inhabit its ground.

Discussing religion in public is rude. Exactly what Satan would have everyone believe. That way, millions and billions more can quietly head to hell when they die.

I guess we'll just have to disagree on this. I happen to admire the man and would feel much more comfortable knowing the man behind the wheel shared my passion and service to our Lord.

this pilot should be thrown into a mental ward for life

I *think* your answer was serious and not satirical.
I sadly agree that most "Christians" probably would. Those who loved Jesus intensely and earnestly seek to walk daily with Him, probably made some effort to open a dialogue. It will be interesting in Heaven to learn if anyone was rescued from hell on that flight. I suspect someone was. How many . . . hard to guess but I wouldn't guess many.

Anyone flying that airline wants that - everyone happy.

this pilot should be thrown into a mental ward for lifeOr better yet fed to the lions at LA Coliseum. That is the traditional way for dealing with Christians who utter their faith in public.

Coombs and Lanny Davis , the best example of "girly men" that I can think of. In time of trouble, would you want men like that watching your back? Come to think of it, that's where they would be, way bihind you. LOL

Sink, how would this jive with your passion for animals? I'm still waiting to learn whether in your mind a Christian ranks higher than a ferret on the food chain.
