Member of the Arizona civilian border patrol arrested for pistol whipping an illegal couple

A member of the civilian border patrol group Ranch Rescue was arrested in Douglas this morning on charges stemming from a Texas illegal imprisonment case, an FBI spokeswoman said. Casey Nethercott was picked up by FBI agents and Douglas Police officers and charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, Herskovitz said.

Ranch Rescue is currently conducting patrols on a private ranch in Douglas. The Texas-based group started Arizona operations earlier this year.

Nethercott is accused of pistol whipping and holding an El Salvadoran couple against their will in March. The immigrants were set free because the U.S. Border Patrol didn't respond to Ranch Rescue's calls, the organization said at the time of the incident.

Douglas police assisted the FBI during today's arrest, said Det. Mark Wilkinson of the Douglas Police Department.

Police arrested Nethercott, then turned him over to the FBI.

Herskovitz did not know what Nethercott was doing in the Douglas area but Ranch Rescue has conducted several operations there.

Ranch Rescue members often wear camouflage and carry weapons.

Immigrant rights activists consider them the most extreme among several patrol groups.

A spokesman for Ranch Rescue, Jack Foote, said Nethercott's arrest was news to him.

"My understanding is that his attorney was ill and working to get those charges removed," Foote said.

Ranch Rescue's operations in Douglas are now aimed at constructing a facility to house volunteers for future operations.

Foote's organization is contributing the labor and the ranch owner is contributing the materials, agreeing to allow Ranch Rescue members to stay there for future operations.

Mr. Nethercott was arrested now on charges stemming from a purported action made eight months ago in Texas? Was the flight-from prosecution charge added because he went to Arizona or were authorities just waiting for him to leave Texas just to lay that charge on him?

He was jailed on those charges in Texas, and released on his own recognizance pending trial.

One element of being released is that you have the restrictions on your movement read to you. Generally, while you're charged and awaiting trial on felony charges, you're not allowed to engage in interstate travel without approval from the court.

Why was this thread moved to “Back Room”?

Because of folks on "your" side who seem to think that "shoot, shovel, and shut up" is the way to go for private citizens dealing with illegal immigration.

This issue needs as much activism as it can get without treating it like someone’s “special” uncle who is only allowed plastic utensils.

Talk to your buddies about that.

Six months ago eleven state coordinators of Ranch Rescue made a split from that organization due to this and other problems with the leadership. Since that time Jack Foote has done what he could to destroy the alliance which was formed by those individuals even to the point of having two of his lackeys spread lies about me and the members of American Border Alliance.

Now it seems that justice is being served. Those of us who left Ranch Rescue knew of the allegations leveled at Jack Foote, head of RR, and his refusal to answer the questions posed to him concerning them.

We at American Border Alliance take no satisfaction in this news but feel that it is time that the record be set straight. We are convinced that the allegations of a vicious assault are true. We are convinced that Jack Foote and Casey Nethercott are guilty of that assault.

We were told that Mr. Foote had held a bound man to the ground and that Mr. Nethercott had kicked that man until and even after he had lost consciousness. We have seen the depositions of eyewitnesses and are convinced of the truth of the charges. We are, however, appalled at the length of time it has taken to bring the truth to light. Those witnesses should have spoken up immediately!

Be that as it may, we are glad to see that justice will now be meted out to the two "men" who committed such a foul crime against another. Such an act is nothing more nor less than cowardice. I, as National Director of ABA, have stated to our members that should one of them act in such a manner, that person would answer to me first and the law could have what, if anything, were left.

To those who succumbed to the wiles of Mr. Foote (and Turner, his lackey in AZ) I can only say too bad you didn't wish to hear the truth. It would have saved you much embarrassment.

What is the murder solution rate in your town? What is it in Mexico? I expect a lot of people could disappear before anyone noticed.

Not a troll. PRND21 is just Vicente Fox's foremost shill on this forum.

Along with his sidekick, Poohbah.

Care to call me a shill for Vicente Fox? I became an adamant proponent for American Border Patrol and for staunching the flow of illegals and trying to boot out the ones who are already here. But the problems on the border do not change the fact that these guys from Ranch Rescue appear to have broken the law in Texas, and their paramilitary demeanor plays right into the hands of the pro-illegal crowd who want to paint ALL anti-illegal groups as racist militant vigilantes.

You are wrong about everything except one point.
I am pro Mexican economy. Fix that problem and you fix the illegal problem.

P.S. You are a coward. Speak your lies to my face. Show a link to back up your lies, tool.

BTW...as Americans we are under no obligation constitutionally or legislatively to be the welfare daddy of mexico (aka "fix" the mexican economy). We should enforce our own immigration laws at the border...that is the root of the problem and the responsibility of the U.S. government. Last time I checked, the United States is a soverign nation, as well as mexico...let the mexican people and the mexican government fix their own problems.

STUPID. There is no way that private border groups can do more than make a tiny dent in the flood of illegals coming across the border. But the best thing groups such as American Border Patrol do is to publicize the border problems

============

What in the hell do you think these organizations have been doing????? Any dent you can make is a bigger dent than the one before.

Absolutely. If they can not survive at their current level with their current economy, let their population decrease to a level that their country can support. To leach and steal from MY country to falsely support the people/economy of an obviously unfriendly different country is, to me, EXTREME justification of overt acts of war.

That "someday" will be sooner than most think, the word in mexico now will be "funded health care in hospitals north of the border" and the invasion is about to get worse.
