We just have to keep working at getting real conservatives elected. In the meantime we have to put up with M. Cantwell and P. Murray (it hurts just to type those names). Hope we can vote them out next time.

If we can take down Osama Mama Murray in 2004, Cantdoanythingwell is even more vulnerable when she's up for election - or, I hope so at least...

Before a big ship stops, it's got to slow down.

"Then accelerating at a lower rate will not get you there"

Long drawn out debates, 6 for a nickel,,,,,One sentence devastating rebuttals.....priceless.

Chick magnet? Uh....ok.

You changed the subject on me. The discussion was on what Bush could do, and your suggestion was that he should say certain things.

I posted the reasons why simply saying things wouldn't work. I am not interested in a discussion of certain legislation until you answer my post about the media.

Thank you.

My opinions agree with yours, and that's why I come to this forum. If you're a 'nut case', then most of us here are too, and we know better than that!!

God gave us these unalienable rights and they can never be taken from us by man or government.

This idea is the keystone in the archway of just government. Although I am philosophically a monarchist, I will support any government — popular, hereditary, or even authoritarian — that recognizes the above principle. Any government that does not acknowledge the fact that the God of Chrstians and Jews is the Supreme Source of Authority, justice, law, and human rights is doomed to become a tyranny — some sooner, some later. Without the explicit recognition of that Power beyond human power that created human beings in His image, there can be no human rights in any society, for the very concept of human rights derives from the religious belief that the individual human person is sacred and as such must be respected.

This is why I am a patriot. Although I believe that rebellion against the legitimate government of the United Kingdom was both a mistake and an unchristian rejection of the authority God had appointed for the people of the Colonies, the historical fact is that the rebellion happened, and that of all the many rebellions against authority that have occurred over the centuries, ours was by comparison the least democratic and the most benign. Not for our Fathers any notions of atheistic (and therefore baseless) “Fundamental Rights of Man”; the United States of America may have been founded on the shifting sands of Enlightenment philosophy, but unlike the republicans whose Godless revolution turned France into a charnel-house, the founders of our revolutionary state tempered their zeal for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness with an explicit and unabashed acknowledgement of the Rock upon which all life, liberty, and happiness are founded, namely Almighty God. For this reason – her acknowledgemment of the Divine origin of all human rights and liberties — the United States has been a force for Goodness in the world. We will remain so for as long as that connection remains unsevered. Should, however, a “wall of separation” ever be constructed between God and State, should the atheists, materialists, and apostates among us succeed in divorcing our government from its fundamental Judeo-Christian ethic — she will cease to be so, and will in time become merely another tyranny.

Mr. Robinson, though I do not share your republican politics — or, indeed, the politics of the average FR member — as a loyal American I respect your love of country and devotion to her traditions. With the passage of time, as the world’s days grow ever more dark, we conservatives — monarchist, republican, and authoritarian — must join forces and stand against the forces of atheism, libertinism, and those who seek to destroy everything we hold dear. Thank you for providing a forum where conservatives of every stripe — even monarchists like me! — may discuss, debate, and organize in response to the machinations of the infernal powers and principalities against whom we all war.

Oh, and the fringe voters from their own party demanding actions that would turn the 50% middle of the road voters into socialists

You, of course, are talking about actions which protect the Second Amendment, the traditional family unit, and unborn children in the womb, for starters. And since this is the kind of stuff that you fear will "turn the 50% middle of the road voters into socialists", then I would say you would be better suited advising strategy to the Democrats.

Sounds good! BTW - You're veiled sarcasm implies that having these numbers will result in less conservative legislation and judges. Care to elaborate?

No, my very real sarcasm implied that having these numbers as a goal is an excuse for doing a whole lot of nothing until they're achieved. Since they aren't likely to be acheived, the likelihood of more excuses for poor results is high, so long as this phantasm is chased as a goal.

I believe you meant "filibusterproof". A veto proof supermajority would be 2/3rds and is what the dems desire at this point.

I meant any kind of "-proof" the lack of which gives the GOP cover for cowardice.

Our side has the fortitude of 10 of Joshua's 12 spies.

That would be the 50% in the middle, not the 5% superfringe nutcases.

No politician takes their 50% from the middle unless running unopposed. Ever.

So let's hold out our 5% and make demands, because we all know 5% is bigger than 50%.

In two-party electoral politics, 49% = 0. To the candidate with 49%, that 5% they don't yet have is everything.

You're understimating anyway. We have more than 5%.

How about letting them know you will support them through thick and thin even though you don't agree with them 100%.

Because that's exactly wrong.

For "through thick and thin," just substute "through cowardice or courage."

How does unconditional support prevent a pol from taking the easy road?

If you want your vote to be worth something, it needs to cost something.

I think Reagan managed the media pretty damned good.. (and he was half-senile)

You guys act like this is rocket-science.

It isn't.

The GOP makes great inroads when they stand up and behave like men.

Witness Reagan and the Republican Revolution..

They get a resounding ho-hum, when they try to out democrat the democrats.

We've already got democrats.

We don't need any more.

We can't even get rid of the ones we've got.

And the official FR method of doing this is demonstrated by Jim's post here? Calling them his sworn enemies?

Before one ridicules OWK's methods, you might want to take a real hard look at your own.

"Bill and Hillary Clinton and their minions still wield a tremendous amount of power and influence over the Democrat Party, the socialist movement and the national press."

This has actually worked out for Conservatives, Freedom, and Republicans. In the last 10 years, because of the Xlintons --->

- Conservatives have been fired up mad and actually protesting for the first time (big thanks to FR),
- Republicans have been swept into both houses of Congress,
- Taxes have been cut,
- Decency has been restored in the WhiteHouse,
- Terrorism is being rubbed,
- Iraq is free,
- State governors are now Republican by a wide majority, including California!,
- A corrupt, sleazy, sewerRAT governor has been recalled,
- University Republican student groups are taking a direct and hard stand against the fascist, tenured administrations,
- Conservative talk shows, morning shows, websites, News, and books are growing while the RAT versions of these are withering,
- Xlinton is the grim reaper of politics, taking the life out of every campaign he touches,
- The RATS are in hyper-panic mode everywhere you look.

This only means that in the next 5 years, the RATS are going to be screaming, crying, lying, race-baiting and rhetoric-ing at an even louder and higher pitched screech than we will have ever seen.

But you can smile, these RATs may be in their death throws. The RATS can't live without the Xlintons, and they sure can't live with them.

Heheheheheheheheh

(a healthy dose of Schadenfreude)
