bttt - 1 - "I believe that as long as Bill and Hillary Clinton and their like minded socialist minions have any influence or power over the government or either of the two major political parties, our nation and all of our freedoms are in extreme danger. "

As Conservatives, we have to think strategically. As David Horowitz said "It's a War, stupid". The Leftists own the Democrat party- they *own* it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. Anyone who votes for *ANY* Democrat is either a Socialist or a fool for socialism.
The Democratic Party is an organization. Allowing it to grow and sustain itself gives the Leftists the room to insert their ideology. The worst situation is when we let the PC Left to so demonize conservative ideas that even Republicans dont stand up for them. The GOOD news is that the Democrats have managed to marginalize themselves ... Watch and see if Bush can make the GOP a naional majority party just like he did in Texas. If we truly get that, it is a HUGE blow to the Left. One more election and we will see if the re-alignment is for real.
We know that many organizations besides the Democrat party have been "corrupted" by the left.MANY. Rich Foundations, Universities, the AAUW, the Legal organizations. Other professional groups. Sierra Club, etc. Defending freedom is MUCH MORE than picking R over D every 2 years in a voting booth. Indeed, that is perhaps 2% of it. the Other 98% is making sure the R's really are "on our side", getting the message out in defense of conservative values, and standing up to things that are wrong and immoral (eg GOvt corruption etc.)
we need to fight the beast on many levels. One way is to defeat and marginalize their organizations, while building our own.
I admire Jim Robinson for his activist work here. He has built a community to defend America and freedom. When you have an organization like that, it can be a source of strenght to us indidividuals, it can help amplify our efforts and channel it to be most effective (aka "Unity is Strength" united we stand).
I'm proud to call myself a "freeper".

"I don't see Jim advocating a one-party system. The democratic party has pulled to the extreme left in recent years, for whatever reason. They own the public school system and most of the media. They need to be defeated for the simple reason that they are not willing to operate within the confines of the constitution which defines the limits on government power. "
Well Said!

It's not just the Clintons IMHO.
The Left lost their "monopoly" on information:
- Talk Radio and the rise of Rush and others
- the internet, and put FR up there with other means of communication and community-building as an influence
- even other outlets, now FOx News etc.
Time was, the "conservative" movement was WF Buckley and the 100,000 readers of National Review. Now you have 20 million a week hearing Rush.
In the 1980s I loved Reagan but *even though* he had 60% approval ratings, it felt "lonely" supporting him.
Isnt that strange what the media can do to conservatives?
I dont feel that was now, thanks to Rush, FR, FoxNews etc.

Nope, we are still a Republic technically and not a direct democracy. But the term 'democracy' is used more loosely in the past to refer to representative government more generally, and we have expanded the right to vote versus the white-male-landowner definition of say 1790.
Sometimes a bit of more-direct democracy (eg Cali recall) is not a bad thing.

This is why I advocate not only voting for the Republicans, but to make them understand why we're voting for them. Write to them often. Call them at their offices. Visit with them personally. Make sure they understand completely why we choose them over the leftist Democrats and what we expect them to do when they take office. And more than that. Get involved in the local campaigns and local party activities. Seek out and promote the very best new conservative blood we can find and get them voted into any elected office we can. Keep pushing and promoting them up the ladders while bringing new conservative blood in.

Q. What is Beethoven doing right now?
A. Decomposing.
Q. What would Beethoven be doing if he were alive today?
A. Clawing at the top of his coffin!

Now you're reminding me of my mother.
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
OK - I'll be a bit less macabre with this next one.
Q. What do you get when you drop a piano down a mining shaft?
Ab minor.
To: Senator Pardek
My mother isn't macabre. She just repeats herself.

I'm not hurt - I have not had an original thought in two years.

And when you do that for a good 15 or 20 years, and they still keep proposing and voting for more big-government socialism, and they still keep flushing away money on pork, and they still keep voting to subjugate legitimate rights, and they still ignore the Constitution, and they still expand the government beyond even the most outrageous bounds.. then what?
Vote for 'em some more?
