In my opinion (and yes, opinions are like that part of the anatomy...) if it's frowned on to have more than one screen name, moderators especially should be setting the standard, not flouting it. < -snip- > Sometimes it would be fun to have two screen names, but the only real reason to do so would be to say things I didn't want to take responsibility for as Amelia - to go out in disguise, so to speak. It would be deceptive and dishonest

But I wouldn't dream of pissing off my best customers. So, you are one of FR's best customers? How much did you contribute? Perhaps I'll replace your monetary or otherwise donation. Let me know what it is you feel you've contributed to this "hateful" site.

Oh, one more thing. I just found this
[link]:
BTW, the last time that the Google-bots crawled Free Republic appears to be on 02/01/2000, as they are currently reporting about 26 results for: site:www.freerepublic.com "Posted +on 02/01/2001", and NOTHING (that I can find) after that date.
So it looks like whatever "it" was, happened on Feb. 1, 2001. John, did you do anything special with the software on that day?

Just a hunch, but I'm thinking that Hildy's "best customers" remark was in reference to this comment, from the top of the thread...
"When the number one Freeper on the monthly donor list, who was also our biggest monthly donor notified me by FreepMail to stop the donation, I got really uptight."
I have no idea how much that will cost you.

The thought that this may be someone's attempt at having their 15 minutes of fame keeps coming to me.

Los vientos y la lluvia lo han lavado limpio . . . Pero en este mundo traidor nada es verdad ni mentira. Todo es segun el color del cristal con que se mira.
¿Es más simpatico sí no tenemos verdad ni mentira, no?
Please DO NOT waste your time trying to make ANYTHING out of my above gibberish. I was sooo proud of my ability to translate your tag that I felt compelled to post something . . . even if it is gibberish. But seriously . . . uh . . . SenatorPardek has posted a link to some of the "funner" stuff from FreeRepublic's checkered past. Here it is.

What I understand this thread to be about is a few people were put in charge as administrative moderators, and it went to their heads, and it seems they started pushing their own agendas. Some posters went outside of these agendas, and were banned, it escalated and internal fights followed. As I see it, the mods were, indeed, a bit overzealous at the beginning and for a while after. But on today's FR, the Mods seem much more reasonable, IMHO. Therefore, the originating complains about the AdminMods has been rectified, give or take a few.

You don't have too many faults for a man...but the people you've picked to be close to you about FR could have been better.
Ah well...everyone wants to be the chief...
Good luck and continue to good work. Kudos to John as well. He's doing wonders with the place!

Sha-boom, sha-boom...life could be a dream, sweetheart.
LOL! I had to take your high-falutin' 16th Century Spanish tagline and sully it a bit with some Americana.

You don't have too many faults for a man...but the people you've picked to be close to you about FR could have been better. People who post on political websites tend to be a bit opinionated. (I wouldn't know anything about that, of course. ;) If they weren't, there would be no impetus for change in the first place. It's just the natural order of things playing itself out.
Back in the old days, there was no competition; there was only FR. Today, people can go to a number of other sites. Let them go. I see this progression as a good thing.

There was a point not too long ago where I didn't care if I ever came back or if I was banned. For a time, it was clear that there were internal problems and moderators with agendas.
That being said, I agree, it has improved......
