Everything else was like a Jayson Blair article. That is true of every story of any kind in any paper that I ever had personal knowledge of or learned the true details of from a friend.
I have never seen a single story in a newspaper that anyone would coroborate as true in any detail.

The article about a friend of mine who died on that same road was incorrect.
It said he was speeding.
He never smarted off with his car in his life.
His father got the car, Z version of the Lumina sedan, and he took one look at it and said, "I don't want it."
The question 'why' was answered with, "I'm going to die in this thing."
He had no idea it was the Z version, it had all it's badges ID'ing it as such removed.
When I told him it was the Z, he turned pale.
That weekend, he tried to do a panic stop to not hit an animal, and stomped the gas instead.
He hit a tree and had his chest crushed, at around 70 and accelerating.
The speed limit on that road is 55.
I still can't go to where he's buried without thinking of that article.

Hey!! When I worked for a newspaper, I got a job offer from the cashmere goat farm because I was the only one who ever reported about their surrogate mom goat breeding program correctly.
