This summer my sister and BIL had some friends visiting from Ontario (they are Conservative)!! and they said they had taken a week and gone to the Dominican Republic. Gail said she will never go back there. Said it was dirty and dangerous. She said they were told not to venture outside of their resort. Ted, of course had to try it. He said the same thing. I didn't ask "where" exactly they were but they sure were not happy with it. I can't see you and Linda in a dirty and dangerous place. Do you just stay within the confines of your resort?

We didn't experience that at all.

Poverty yes, dangerous....absolutely not. People were friendly, we ventured out every day. Talked to lots of people that go there often who said the same thing.

A woman brought a very limp parrot into a Veterinary Clinic. As she laid her pet on the table, the Vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.

After a moment or two, the Vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry, but Polly has passed away."

The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure?

I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might be in a coma or something."

The Vet rolled his eyes, shrugged, turned and left the room. Returning in a few moments with a beautiful black Labrador.

As the bird's owner looked on in surprise, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the parrot from top to bottom. He then looked at the Vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The Vet escorted the dog from the room and returned a few moments later with a cat.

The cat jumped up and delicately sniffed the bird. The cat then sat back, shook it's head, meowed, and ran out of the room.

The Vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but, like I said, your parrot is most definitely, 100% certifiably dead."

He then turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill which he handed to the woman.

The parrot's owner, still in shock, took the bill.

"A HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!" she cried. "A HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS just to tell me my bird is dead?!"

The Vet shrugged.

"If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would only have been $20,

but... what with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan.....it's $150.00."

I don't know about you Sharkie but my eyes are starting to close. It's been a high pressure week here too. Looks like this pressure cooker may last for awhile yet. Since the fire, a lot of families can't find a good place to rent and they can't get the builder's to build fast enough. There are so flipping many beauracratic glitches. Insurance, Federal Aide has to kick in before Provincial Aid and both government aids have to kick in before the Insurance companies will do anything. What a bloody mess. I'm wondering if there may be a couple of nervous break downs before this thing is ever resolved. Oh and today I heard that the folks whose houses were saved but their yards and sewer hookups, and other damaged utilities aren't covered by ANYBODY.!!

I have heard that Jamaica is very dangerous!! Beautiful but dangerous. You'd think they would get a handle on that since it will and probably does drive a lot of tourist dollars away.!!
