So many lives had just begun
We all saw the shining sun
Rise and turn the towers to gold

Morning cars came rushing in
Fortunes there to lose or win
Kids went off to school again
No time left to kiss or hold

Then evil came out of the skies
Men and women and children died
A city once so strong and free
Was made to bow on bended knee

Then heroes came across the land
And gave us all their hearts and hands
To clear the ground, to see the sun
