Where does the "rock" part come in? Would this include Monteverdi and maybe Cavalli?

According to my resident musicologist, these were early Baroque composers. And I always say, "If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it!" Think of Dowland, the great English lute master. In fact, you couldn't do better than go to Amazon.com and find a collection of his works.
