How much do Rx sunglasses cost? [vanity]

Fellow FReepers... I have a non-news question, hopefully you can help me out. I just got a coupon in the mail from Lens Crafters for 50% off prescription sunglasses. As a general rule, how much do prescription sunglasses cost? $100-$200? Anybody have any idea? Thanks.

A personal reccomendation. If you have them near you and you or someone you know is a member..I highly reccomend COSTCO for glasses/sunglasses. I have a Dr. do my exam and then take the prescription to them. Very high quality, excellent price and a warranty that can't be beat.

Mine, (I think I got them a lens crafters) were the price of regular glasses plus about $10 for tinting.

It all depends on the lense requirements. Typical frames will be 150-200 plus lense cost.

Well, just paid $380.00 for a pair of high density, progressives with frames. So, add a tint and you are looking at over $400.......

If you are eligible for Lasik (sp?) surgery, have it done! Alas, I am not eligible for it due to my severe astigmatism

It depends on your lenses and frames....I picked up a pair from Lens Crafters with a coupon for about $100...I didn't want too spend too much cause I always lose them....I do need new ones...can I have your coupon?

I recommend buying your glasses from http://www.39dollareyeglasses.com. You can get two pairs of glasses for the price of one pair from Lenscrafters and the quality and finish are just as good. You can even mix & match prescriptions by getting maybe a Transitions pair for every day wear and a sunglass pair for when the sun's really bothering your eyes. If you really want a terrific deal, check out http://www.zennioptical.com. You can get two pairs of high quality glasses for under $100! The reason Lenscrafters is expensive is they sell brand name glasses and every store has to have their own one hour optical laboratory which raises the price. If brand name's not that important to you, you can still have a nice set of glasses and last time I checked no one cared what name you had on the glasses you wear.

They're priced the same as regular glasses, plus $25 or so for tinting. In other words, it depends on the frame you choose, the type of lenses, and the strength of your presecritpion.

OTOH, if you have to wear glasses full time, it's some of the best money you'll ever spend.

Yep, I got a pair of prescription sunglasses for driving at Sams Club. I had my prescription so it was very easy - I selected nice frames and they had them ready for me in under 2 weeks or so, non glare and everything. Cost: About $180. Take advantage of costco, price clubs, and sam's clubs type places for their eyeglasses service - they do a nice, professional job, at a very good price.

My Calvin Klein sunglasses were about $150 ($99 frames). Not that I care what name is on the glasses...it was just the only frames I liked. (So many glasses today are these itty bitty skinny lenses that used to be popular with old ladies.)

My friend use to mock my 'cocoon' style glasses. Now he just mocks my CKs. (Some friend!)

Oversized glasses are out today. The "in" styles seems to be rimless or semirimless frames. The most popular frames seem to be titanium or stainless steel. So one hardly notices one is wearing glasses at all!

However much they cost, they are worth it. I wear my prescription sunglasses more than I wear my regular glasses.
I'm nearsighted, and I need glasses for driving. I keep my sunglasses next to the car keys - I don't leave home without them.

Me too. I've found photochromatic glasses are great for driving (and all around wear). And I keep a pair of RX sunglasses handy for the same reason if my Transitions pair down cut down on the sun enough for me to drive comfortably.
