No, it's not really his birthday. In the Marines they take away your birthday in boot camp, then if you graduate they give you a new one that's the same for everybody. That way they only gotta make one cake. :-)

Ok, now I got it. It's the same with thoroughbred horses, their birthdays are all January 1, no matter what. A good system, it simplifies things.
