The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

And there's that one particular harbour
Sheltered from the wind
Where the children play on the shore each day
And all are safe within
Most mysterious calling harbour
So far but yet so near
I can see the day when my hair's full gray
And I finally disappear

You be bad!

You have never seen two more awkward people than The Bear and I when he finally got here!
I had been cleaning and cleaning and cleaning --- the bathroom was blinding! --- and all he did was come in and fall into bed ... TO SLEEP!

Have you ever watched "fear factor"?
Good Lord... I thought I'd seen stupid TV before... but this is even worse than the tidbit I'd seen before.

Thank you, love!

By the way, I happen to like "500 Miles Away From Home"...
500 Miles Away From Home
by Bobby Bare
I'm 500 miles away from home
Teardrops fell on momma's note
When I read the things she wrote
She said, "We miss you son,
"we love you, come on home"
Well I didn't have to pack
I had it all right on my back
Now I'm 500 miles away from home
Away from home, away from home
Cold and tired, and all alone
Yes, I'm 500 miles away from home
SPOKEN:
I know this is the same road I took the day I left home,
but it sure looks different now.
And I guess I look different too,
cause time changes everything.
I wonder what they'll say, when they see their boy looking this bad.
Oh I wonder what they'll say when I get home
Can't remember when I ate
It's just thumb and walk and wait
And I'm still 500 miles away from home
If my luck had been just right
I'd be with them all tonight
But I'm 500 miles away from home
Away from home, away from home
Cold and tired, and all alone
Oh I'm still 500 miles away from home

Sounds like a good song! - Wasn't the one I was quoting though! Mine is Peter, Paul & Mary
If you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles,
a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles, a hundred miles,
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.
Lord I'm one, Lord I'm two, Lord I'm three, Lord I'm four,
Lord I'm 500 miles from my home.
500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles, 500 miles
Lord I'm five hundred miles from my home.
Not a shirt on my back, not a penny to my name
Lord I can't go a-home this a-way
This a-away, this a-way, this a-way, this a-way,
Lord I can't go a-home this a-way.
If you miss the train I'm on you will know that I am gone
You can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles.

I don't think I've every heard that song! I am utterly unfamiliar with it!
To: HairOfTheDog
Nope.... never watched ONE episode of any reality show at all. Not one! Me neither... and this one was only about three minutes... then I had to bump to sci-fi network. Even Stargate is better written than this... and it's not even all that good.

all he did was come in and fall into bed ... TO SLEEP!Ain't no way I'm doin' that! I have other plans for when I arrive.

How far are you planning to drive each day?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
About 600 miles. But it also depends on how early of a start I can get tomorrow.

Yup, that's the plan. Make it to Bismarck the first day, then to Missoula, then home! Doesn't quite come out even that way, but the alternative is to wait till Wednesday and leave bright and early.

Gosh, it's only 58 here.

No creek in the bachbad. Guess that's good news. I have this really nice recurring dream. I have this house with a stream running through it. Really.
Okay, it sounds a little weird but you'd just have to see it in the dream. And I've had this dream for years.
