Well, my proper southern family appearance that I'm required to assume at times certainly limits my tattooing areas. Let's just say that adding that Grama tribute pushed the limit for me. Conceivably it could peek out from under decent shorts if they crept up when I sat. But, I can watch that. And a Grama tribute was okay for pushing the limit.
I've thought a few times that I might like something on my back but fact is, there would be light colored, repectable clothing that would just make it where you could see something was there. And I don't want to ever have to think about that. With them on my hips, I ain't wearing no clothing over that area that you can see no ink through!

Yes, my second grade teacher was "Miz" Hamner, as all us country kids called her, weirdly predating the feminists. I am making an assumption that she was from that family, as the Hamners of the book lived only a few miles away, in Schuyler. 'Course they weren't famous yet, in the early 50's, and I guess they aren't really famous now. I was seven years old at the time, in 1955.
"Miz" Hamner taught the second and third grades in a single room, both at once. I remember she wouldn't tolerate smelly kids, if they came to school unwashed, she made 'em get clean in a washtub she kept at school, in the coat closet. This happened quite often.
She also had a paddle, with hoes drilled through it, so it whistled on the way to the kids butts, when she smacked 'em, who had misbehaved. No one thought much of that, or thought it was cruel, that lady was a good influence on all the kids, just like the "Walton" family was made out to be in the TV program.
I never actually saw an episode of the "Waltons" all the way through, even then, when it came out, I had about given up on TV. But once it was on when I was in the room, and I sure noticed, it wasn't filmed anywhere near the supposed location, which is where I grew up.
One time the actor who played "John Boy," I think Richard Thomas may have been his name, came to town for a "photo Op." For some reason, Dad met him, the story was that "John Boy" was looking forward to a martini at his hotel in Charlottesville after having had to deal with the local VIP's around Scottsville. I don't blame him.

Now that I think about it, engineering is pretty mucn what dwarfs are all about, when they are not committing mayhem.
Think about Moria.

Even if Miz Hamner wasn't one of Earl Hamner's sisters, she had to be related.
I always thought "Spencer's Mountain" with Henry Fonda and Patricia O'Neal was a better represenation of Hamner's stories.

G'nite Jen.
