The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm having chips and queso.

I'm making chili today. I have about a gallon simmering on the stove.

Well, you can have the chicken and pecan pie. I'll take the rabbit food you don't want.

man, what I'd do for some pecan pie.

I'm probably the only person in Texas who can't stand the stuff. Definitely in the minority. LOL

Mmmm...food!

Hobbits don't do well without meals. Just went home and had some soup...almost feel alive again.

Steak still sounds good, though! But those "eat a huge steak / burger and get it free" deals just seem...wrong. Ugh!

I don't know if you can TRUST a guy who don't like pecan pie!

That's downright un-American! ;-)

MMMmmm. If you lived a little more west and I lived a little more east I'd be a crashin' this party.

Lookin' good! I wish I had HALF the DIY skills you and Steve have!

Heh...you know, I don't think I've EVER seen Steve in shoes. Not like I've seen many pictures, but seems like in every one you HAVE posted, he's barefoot. Yeah, I know you are too in these pics, but I've seen you in Chucks, too!

NO! You are not the only person in Texas who can't stand the stuff. Lots of folks in my family can't. ME for one.

I got a yard full of pecan trees at both my houses too. Anybody that wants 'em can come get 'em.

Oh, I don't mean wrong from the money standpoint! But I'd rather have a nice leisurely meal without having to worry about stuffing myself silly, even if that WOULD mean getting it free!

Better trust us. There seem to be a lot of us that don't like 'em.

I was raised in a pecan orchard too.

Only if you bring some chips and queso.

I do not go many days in this house with no chips and queso. It's a staple.

I know you don't mean that.

Which is the reason I'll probably never attempt it. I like to savor my steak.

Pecan pie... You should ahve seen him at my Aunt Grace's home Saturday. PE just about heaved everytime someone exclaimed how wonderful pecan pie is (He was all twitchy) :-)

Speaking of twitching. My cousin, Allyson, brought an incredible desert that she called "Better than Sex." My conservative, soft spoken uncle Oran proclaimed, "This ain't better than sex.... I'm not twitchin!" ROTFL! Everyone within earshot just about fell outta the chairs.

I like pecans themselves, and pie in general. I've just never understood the need to eat a bag of jellied sugar with a few nuts on top.
