The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Yipee! The sun came out late morning and my door was dry enough to paint. Now I don't have to leave a spotted door behind during the week.

This storm out in the Atlantic now....

Is it the one you spotted forming in Africa last week?

I believe that's it, yeah. Though I have slightly lost track.

Looks like it will miss us, thank God, as it has gotten powerful, gusts to 165 mph this morning. Forecast to weaken a little as it turns away.

Another 3 weeks and I'll start to breath easier ('til next year). To think there was a time in my life when I never gave those things a second thought.

Cute picture of the bird with the worm. Do you think those things taste any good?

"format your HD and don't load ANY software, call me if it still doesn't work." Yeah right, as if you can install the modem or printer without loading software!

Don't you realize all computers come preloaded with all software required to surf the manufacturer's web site. Now hush, you don't need any information we haven't already given you. ~grin~

Fried up in butter and garlic, perhaps!

I think it's going to miss NC as well, though you are surely not out of the woods yet. 'Course, at the moment, the thing is still headed at us, I'm just relying on the TPC predicting this right. They are better at that than they were, but they still make some astounding errors. But I'm betting they are right this time, after all, the storm is already pretty far north. Just a little more and the westerlies will solve the problem.

"Fried up in butter and garlic, perhaps!"

The bird or the worm? Or maybe just some okra with both. Wonder how MBY's fish feast went yesterday?

Jeanne and I are invited to one this afternoon, my "socialist" retired professor fishing buddy is having a fish fry. Fried dolphin, lots of rum, ought to be fun, long as we avoid talking politics. Or maybe even if we do.

Heh...I wish they were that tangible!

Now we're trying to figure out why some of the systems that are supposedly alllll patched and protected keep getting reinfected. Fun, fun, fun.

Meanwhile, every two minutes another student calls from the dorms...uhhh...RESIDENCE halls (new PC term) saying they're having problems with something or other. And demanding that we fix whateveritis RIGHT NOW.

At least I'm not bored.

And I haven't had much time to think about e-mail. Thank God.

You have a good time at the fish fry.... enjoy your friend, and don't talk politics unless it is fun!

I am cleaning again today. When I get to it!

okay, I spoke too soon. After I posted my last, the whole thing rebooted without warning! I have just been on the phone again with techsupport. This guy was not as jerk like the last one. Hopefully, everything is kosher now.

Ugh!

ecurbh, after my Grama's death this really incredible old photograph of her turned up that I'd never seen before. It has a weird lighting problem though. I was wondering, if I can get it scanned could you help to try and get it fixed? It's an old black and white and the top half of the photo is good light but the bottom half looks like it was over-exposed or something. I don't have it scanned yet. But, would that be something you could try?

Amazing.... You know when I was in college, none of us even had computers in our 'dorm' rooms, let alone some internet. And I didn't miss them!

Hehehe....my cousin and his wife did that one year just to tick off their snobby neighbors.

I been known to do stuff like that. I know, it's hard to believe, proper southern lady like me and all! But then, I been known to shop in pawn shops too.

You mean we have to eat that thing? Guess I better pick some garlic from the garden to cook it in. Where'd you hide the butter?
