The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I've been carrying-- and showing off-- my knife to anybody who will listen. I tell them the whole story about how the idea developed and how now there are many soldiers in Iraq carrying the same knife, and why.
I've yet to find anybody, even the obsessed liberals in my outfit, that don't think it's just pretty darn cool.

They play it a lot in Waco on WACO 100 too.A guy who was travelling through Waco called the KVET morning show one day last week... Waco 100 was playing Texas country music that KVET doesn't play, and the guy wanted to know why. The simple answer was, "there's too much of it out there to play it all!"

My grandma KC6UFN (sk) received her no-code license at age 70, then went on to become the club treasurer. She was very near passing 20wpm when she died of leukemia. That is awesome. I passed my general written in 97, but never could get the code test. I think I'm hearing dyslexic or something. Just never could get it. My uncle and I worked and worked together. He just passed his year before last.
I saw a funnel. I had only had my license days before the Jarrell tornado. Don't know if you're familiar with the area but I was working between Waco, McGregor and Moody where it started up. They announced that it was out the office windows and everybody should take cover in the interior of the plant. So, while the rest of the engineering department ran to the 2nd floor windows to watch the funnel I ran to my truck. I had a little jeep pickup at the time and knew I could follow. So, I did. All the way to Jarrell. Then I came home. I couldn't do anything and it was too much.
Now, here in Wichita Falls, they won't let me storm spot. They say my training from down there wouldn't prepare me for the kind of storms that are here. hello. the huge one in WF was in '79. They don't get it about Jarrell. They think they only happen here.

In Dallas County, they won't talk to you unless you're a RACES member. Nuts. In Collin County, all spotters are welcome.

WACO 100 is a good station also. I listened to KVET when I lived in Austin though. Does KVET ever play Skeet Anglin anymore?

Ruthy was by this afternoon for a while. Today was Becky's first day of school. And her grandfather is having (had?) heart surgery.
