Good morning! Thread has been very slooooow. Anyway, I won't be here long myself. Gots to get out in the yard and continue ripping out old overgrown vegetation. We're redoing it - the previous owners did NOTHING, and it's really a mess. I have the gardner (I've hired help to come by once a month) going to help me with the front. We're going to tear out the junk that's there, build a small raised border of keystone along the front walk. We're planting California cotoneasters along that part. We're tearing out the shrubs lining the walk to the front door, and all the shrubs in the piece between that walk and the driveway. Ugh. nothing but spider magnets, and they make the place look closed in. We're going to plant azalea, camelia, rhododendron and hydrangea along the fence and front of the house, as well. It'll look every so much better. I'm taking "before" photos today.
We picked the first produce from the garden we planted in the back - "heritage" head lettuce (it almost seems like a cross between head lettuce and leaf lettuce), raddiccio, and basil. We'll have cucumbers and tomatos soon. The peppers aren't doing well, they don't seem happy here. The radishes may be ready in another week.

Your new plan sounds lovely - and like you've got your work cut out for today.
Great good luck with it.

Hmm.. rocks.
And purple flowers in the foreground.
Looks like loose strife growing there.
Rather pretty.
Thanks for the pic!

Afternoon all. The weather really sux here, no rain but dark and gloomy.
Just watched the Peacemaker movie on USA.. I liked it, but I'll probably never see it again as it's on too darned late for me.
Most of us must be having fun elsewhere, cause it's been a loooong weekend.. At least I hope they're having fun.. All we can do is watch TV and cook, and I baked yesterday... Guess I'd better get my recipe books out, and kick some butt. ;)

We've had odd weather the last few days. It's been overcast, and we even had some rain on Thursday. It doesn't rain here this time of year! The marine layer has been very far inland, and isn't burning off very early. So, we have increased humidity with it. Usually, as far inland as we are, it's hot and dry. My lemon trees don't like it - the small lemons have all dropped off. My pomegrate lost all of its blossoms, as well.
