well this is the 3d try on the oven. not that they have even LOOKED at it yet to see what might be wrong. First they did not order the part in time for the first scheduled visit, which i didn't know til i was sitting at home from work that day, waiting for them. the second time i stayed home waiting for them, they DID show up, but hadn't informed me that the part was to have been shipped directly TO me, and it had not yet arrived. The third time they were SUPPOSED to come (this past Sat.) because the part had arrived, the guy had gone on vaca and not written me into the schedule for someone else to come, so a no-show on Sat. AM. I am home today and i will do serious damage to the GE repairman if this thing is not fixed today.

well the touch pad does nothing. i had to turn the switch off on the circuit breaker bc the thing just kept beeping, as if the timer was going off. they ordered both the touchpad itself and the electrical component behind it. a friend of mine, whose house is also 4 years old and has the same oven, said they had to replace their's also and that is was from spraying cleaner directly onto the touchpad, liquid seeped behind and burned the thing out. we'll see what they tell me.

Anything electrical should be cleaned with cloth dampened by apropriate cleaner, never sprayed direct. But I'd recommend reading "Cleaning Section" of owner's manual before they get there. The b!tch slap him if he says "well you cleaned it wrong"..

Don't throttle the repairman! I think you found the problem-the owner's manual that came with my Whirlpool oven specifically says not to spray cleaner directly on the touchpad, but to wipe it with a cloth lightly sprayed with cleaner, only. I already ragged on the lady who cleans my and my next door neighbor's houses for spraying stuff right on it.

can you do northern VA from there?

Are you inquiring for yourself? Or suggesting that I "do" ALL of northern VA??
If it's the latter, I will have to rearrange my schedule.
