Lord willing, I will soon be able to give my final update on this phase of Eric's military experience, and he will be safely home. Lord, may it please be so.....
Amen.
Thank you for sharing this information about your wonderful son. And, thank God for Eric, and the men and women like him who serve....

Thank you all for your service to America.

I'm (obviously) still reading the beginning of this thread. You mentioned you won't be showing this stuff to Eric, so I don't have to worry about adding to his embarrassment by further discussing malaria pill-induced and other "digestive upsets."
In face, I'll begin Gramma Pam's tip du jour by starting with a more polite area of one's anatomy. ;)
You know how your nose often gets red and chaffed when you have to blow it constantly because of a cold? In my experience, rubbing on a little castor oil almost immediately takes the redness *and* the resulting pain away!
Now for that other area: ;)
Cutting paper towels into manageable-sized sections and making up some "wet wipes"-style towelettes would be a nice project for Girl Scouts or church groups. There are also formulas one can use for cleansing cloths, too. IMO, the smaller-sized castor oil wipes could serve many purposes and unlike perfumed commercial-type wipes, would have the advantage that allergic reactions to castor oil are extremely rare. (The idea is to send some soothing comfort from home....) ... The number of ways to "package" the towelettes for convenience are almost endless.

We must continue our fervent prayer support for them, for their leaders, and their Commander in Chief. What a beautiful tribute you wrote about such a wonderful young man. I read about your Eric several months ago on here before the war started and he has been in my daily prayers for the troops ever since and will remain so until we hear he is safely back at home.

Thank you for your kind words, and thank you for your prayers!
If this is the hardest thing we've ever done as parents, it's also the hardest thing that thousands of other parents have done! Every soldier there is beloved and missed by someone.....

I'm always changed a little each time I read of your accounts of Eric. I wanted to rush to the end to be sure everything was ok, but for some reason I couldn't.
A huge lump in my throat not knowing how this would be a pleasant account of current events and not a sorrowful one.
Thank you for keeping up in the loop and continuing prayer for safety.

He is OK as of yesterday, swheats.
We were at a family reunion for the weekend (a very hard time for me), and he called on Sunday morning to leave a message wishing his Dad a Happy Father's Day, and sounded great.
Thank you for your prayers, dear friend!

Hubba Hubba Bump for one of 'Merica's Finest!
I know many a parent would love to have this outstanding man for a son-in-law.
Just don't let go of him too quick. 8-0

Don't worry, though.....he doesn't have any plans to get serious with anyone let alone get married for a VERY long time!

As I read, I grew increasingly fearful that your story would end badly. So it is with a profound sense of relief that I'll add Eric's name to my prayer list.
What a fine young man you have! He left as a boy and will return as a man - armed for leftist professors and the domestic assault that awaits him, but he will be well-armed for the fight.
(And he's adorable too!)

Thank you, Humidston! The story is not yet over, but we have faith that he will return safely.
And don't worry about his ability to argue with the leftists. He's been well trained, and honed his skills on High School teachers who disagreed with his conservative politics, but loved having a student who would, and could engage them in intelligent discussions. Plus the fact that he's going to a Christian college where even the liberals aren't quite so far to the left.
As for that adorable part...... :o)
