I've never heard the DC sing nor am I an expert in this by any stretch but I do know you can seriously damage your voice if you are singing incorrectly. It's very possible. One of the big rockstars, Steve Tyler?, took voice lessons after becoming famous in order to keep his voice from being damaged on tour.

Lots of singers have fouled up their voices. Most have to go thru surgery to get it fixed but some are permanently messed up. I do like their singing, even though I think they are whackos.
