After the (AMC awards) event, Keith appeared on the ABC late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. The country singer explained why there is no love lost between Maines and him.
She attacked me about nine months ago over the 'Angry American' song [Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue]. I took the high road for a little bit and then she didn't think that she got the fight, I think, that she wanted. So then she attacked our president on foreign soil and got the fight she wanted, I guess, Keith said.
He suspects well be hearing more hackneyed phrases from Maines. He predicted that she's still not done. If y'all think she's done, you're crazy. Stuff comes out of her blowhole daily.
The Left Coast Report keeps hoping that someone will find a way to cork it.

Little Tommie Dazhole on Bush Diplomacy:
"I'm deeply saddened, saddened I tell you, that Geroge W. Bush failed to teach the pigs to sing like the Beach Boys in the song "In my Room". I know that Bill or Al could have got those pigs in key with rich harmony. Heck after Bush was through the pigs sounded like the Dixie Chicks. This is a miserable failure and we should hang our heads in shame," quipped Little Tommy Dazhole.

It does go beyond just the song. He has specifically addressed the Dixie Chicks, and they have addressed him.
This is a long running fued, but Toby just won.

Judging by the looks of this thread, I don't think Freepers care much about the Dixie Chicks. It just raises the temp:-)

Heck I'm a huge Beach Boys fan. You can't beat their harmony. I wish they had done fewer surfing/car songs. But I still play their music frequently. In order to express extremes we must use hot and cold. They are not in the same league but may be mentioned in the same paragraph as mutually exclusive terms.

Fascination with mere celebrity and celebrities is the least admirable characteristic of modern American life. That large numbers of people apparently give a rat's *ss about the uninformed opinions of an entertainer is a depressing thought.
From it flow so many unintended consequences - the devaluation of actual accomplishment being the first.
IMO.

I
t will be amazing if Maines doesnt once again slip up, make another foolish statement and cause her band grief from country music fans and her peersI am not an apologist for Natalie Maines Pasdar but you have to understand where she is coming from. Her husband is Iranian (as is the ex of another DC) and one of her "best friends" is Sean Penn SO she lives and breathes this bs. All of her inner circle are libs/anti American/blame America Firsters and she thinks that this is the way everybody thinks. sad

I certainly did not say Toby was above criticism. I said that Natalie's actions in dissing a song that meant a lot to soldiers, when those soldiers were being honored at the event at which she was singing, was in extremely poor taste.
Also what an artist does at one of his concerts cannot compare to what one does on national television, imho.

P.S. Not that it matters, but Natalie started the fight by going on major media and calling "The Angry American" song "extreme" and ranting about it.
Still doesn't justify the F.U.T.K. t-shirt on national tv, if you ask me. She wore that specifically for tv, specifically because T.K. would be at the awards show.

I didn't know that...and that does change everything.

The rant is complete with fake pictures of the DC with Saddam Hussein on the big screens. That is childish and tastless. What's wrong with her doing something similar in public, at a concert? You may have missed the beginning....Natalie went out of her way to call Toby Keith a disgrace and embarassment to country music after he released courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. Why?
She claims the song is ignorant and makes country music sound ignorant. At first Keith said nothing in response...but her goading continued. So now he feels free to dis her during his concerts.....it's about time.
Toby Keith happens to be the first country music artist I've ever listened to, his song Courtesy touched a nerve. I feel personally slighted when the Vichy Chicks call his music ignorant.

"...she thinks this is the way that everyone thinks." Don't think so. She's just on the side of the liberals and loves all the attention she's getting. Core country music fans have pretty much dismissed them into irrelevancy but then Natalie doesn't care. She's on her way to a pop crossover whether the two sisters like it or not.
