Posted on 05/22/2003 7:35:32 AM PDT by jonalvy44

YES! This only illustrates the point that Americans are no longer tolerant of those that bash America!! This is awesome news! They can't just sneak back into our hearts, as much as they would like to.

Audience Boos Dixie Chicks at ACM Awards May 22, 7:05 AM EST

Many country music fans aren't ready to forgive the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines for comments critical of President Bush: Voters rejected the group's nominations for three Academy of Country Music Awards and the audience booed the mention of their name.

Presenter Vince Gill urged the audience at Wednesday night's show to "Stop it, stop it." He added: "You know who gets blessed when you forgive — you."

Maines has been in the country music doghouse since she told a London audience on March 10, before the start of the war in Iraq, that "we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

...

The Dixie Chicks were a late addition, performing by satellite from their hometown of Austin, Texas.

Maines sat silently as Emily Robison briefly introduced the song.

The boos erupted when Gill named the Dixie Chicks among nominees for entertainer of the year. Gill said afterward that the reaction was more subdued than at last month's Flameworthy Awards. "It was a pretty volatile crowd that time. This one wasn't so bad," he said.

It didn't seem that way to host Reba McEntire.

"It was a pretty big negative response. I don't think it's over," she said after the program.

Beats me? His underage wife comes out of the limo first and hands you a list of rules to read over and then takes it back. It's laminated! After a sufficient time has passed for him to round up his remaining bottles of red Beaujolais, he exits the vehicle, heads for the stairs, wobbles up, finishes all the red wine, and sleeps.

Once he's out, his little firecracker girl wife makes small talk with you while you try to do important stuff like discuss your favorite episode of The Andy Griffith Show. Apparently there was a real hatred between Andy and Don Knots. I asked her what was up with Floydd the barber? I thought he seemed like some deranged amphetemine cook or something. Once again she scolded me for discussing "the show". She told me I had read the rules and I was lucky to get their business.

We told her that flying was pretty boring and that stuff like discussing the Andy Griffith Show was how we passed the time. We were hoping she would get "the boring" hint and supply a little mile high action while the "Sherriff" was passed out, but she was too stingy.

Tepid apology? Try NO apology. She didn't think she had anything to apologize for, and she made that clear. That just solidified it for me. Never again. They get NONE of my money. Go work at Burger King, girls.

I've had to disown my brother, since he moved to Indiana & has not only started talking about "pop" himself but has raised my nieces and nephews to use this linguistic abomination as well. Sad, really.

Vince, you forgive someone that made a mistake and wishes forgiveness. She didn't, and isn't.

>>He only left his wife and Amy Grant, the so-called Christian singer, left her hubby...so they could be together. No respect there.<<

I didn't know that. No respect is right.

Of course, Reba did the same thing. I was sickened whe I saw her interviewed and shamelessly told of having an affair with a married man (either that or she was married, I can't remember).

Then she shamelessly said something like, "And then after (whoever left who), it was even more fun. Hyuck, hyuck."

The woman nauseates me.

Like another poster said, I think she likes the publicity. First she attacks Toby, the President on a foreign soil, the so called nude picture, & now the t-shirt dissing Toby. Lord I'm so happy he got the Entertainer of the Year Award & not them. I'm totally disgusted with Natalie & I hope country music fans have a very long memory when it comes to them. Success has gone to her head.

Now I understand. He didn't want eye contact because he didn't want you to see how messed up he was--before, during and after the flight. Unbelievable. I just don't see how people can assume they need special treatment when all they do is "act"; you know, play "let's pretend" for a camera. Must have something to do with the notion that making big bucks makes you special.

She has properly apologized for anyone who has noticed...

She even did it again last night...F.U.T.K....

which demonstrates her true sentiment and renders all previous apologies moot...which we knew that anyway...

I think the "Pop" longitude and latitude coordinates have an overlay with the "Iced Tea vs. Sweet Tea zones. The breakfast, supper, and dinner ettiquite too. Amazingly too, all carbonated beverages in the south are called "Coke". I'll never forget being asked what kind of drink I wanted with my meal? I said "Coke" and the waitress said "what kind of coke?"

There is also a certain latitude of which yeast seems to have become extinct. One can only take so many soda bisquits.

She drew first blood with Toby back last year criticizing his song RWB twice as rednecky in the press.

She(they) simply don't like Keith because he is too macho for their fembot tastes....like many of the women who actually run the music row infrastructure here....mostly liberals which is why they get propped up....that and CMT is a Viacom company which also owns VH-1 and MTV if that tells you anything. The Country Music establishment is mostly career women run and not conservative although a few of the label heads are as well as most of the artists and most of the fans.

He had just had both his feet broken to shift his center of gravity to get rid of that "old man shuffle" Artie Johnson performed so well. His hair was jet white and in a long pony tail like Sean Connery in "Medicine Man".

If his appearance was an issue, I would have suggested Stevie Wonder as his pilot.

It amazes me that Shania was able to break through the "maze". Must really be a problem for some of these folks that she's from Canada, had the gall to expose her navel and create some pretty out-of-"country" videos?
