Yeah, but their scientists are often the worst kind of scientists. Their acadamy's are/were political flunky heaven. Their funding and uptake of graduate students had far more to do with politics than abilty. Finally, their scientific literature SUCKS! They are suffused with all kinds of 19th century European weirdnesses. Ever do a review on Soviet medical information? Get set for a rollicking ride into the fringe elements of the 1930's. Infrared light treatments for sickly youths in mining camps. B-12 and acidophilus treatments for cancer. You might as well consult the 'Mother Earth News' for scientific information.
