This is a joke, right? This reads like The Onion.

Because if this is real, her two fellow band members can thank her for the end of their careers. She's taken a bad situation for them and made it a million times worse.

One big difference is that Klintoon was most of those things people were calling him.
My one and only CD from this group is trash now. I'll never buy another.
Remember , too, she called Toby Keith's songs about 9/11 names as well. "Ignorant" is one word she used that I remember.

Clearly a forgery..."redneck" is one word, not two.
Nice satire!

The clear problem here is she got a dose of brain-washing from being in Europe. I know other Americans here in Europe who have sucked up German nightly news and believe the whole anti-America and anti-GW bit. The liberal press has pumped these dimwits up and Natalie Maines is simply a casuality of being doped. She obviously thought the comment was from her heart. And now today, with her comment mentioned above...she hopes to show she has taken yet another side. Singers need to concentrate on one thing....singing. The minute they start to branch out and take political sides...you risk fan alienation...which she has earned in this case. My guess is that Natalie will come back to the US and quit the DC US tour after 3 or 4 cities. She will retreat to the west coast and attempt to wait this thing out....which means six months of quarantine. The funny thing is that GW could make all things better for her by asking the Dixie Chicks to do a White House Xmas show.

She still couldn't avoid twealing those folks who have held -- and properly so -- Clinton in utter contempt: "I now realize that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect."

I do NOT care who the man is -- he has to earn respect. And if he holds an office to which respect is considered due -- A Judge, a CEO, a Commander, why then that man MUST not have shown reckless abuse of authority and the trust of that office.

This is not a real quote.

Its just smart a$$ nonsense from a website rationalizing left wingers scared to death of such a powerful anti liberal backlash. Its not that you aren't free to say what you want, its that you aren't free to be supported when what you say is idioctic. That's what the terrified liberals forget about this subject, the country fans are praciticing Free Speech by boycotting, not supressing it.

I'm not a country music fan, but God Bless you people and your boycott. I bought my first album yesterday though, Toby Keith's Unleashed. Its great. I'll buy Darryl Worley's when it comes out too.

I added the "humor" topic to this thread, but I have a feeling it's too late.

I can't believe she wrote this. I guess she really does want the other two to fire her (apparently they don't echo her sentiments although I haven't heard either of them speak up.)

Natalie, if you indeed did write this you are a bigger idiot than I originally imagined.

A man seeking wisdom about how to apologize for malicious words went to a wise man and asked how he could make amends.

The sage told him, "Take a feather pillow and go to the top of a mountain and to tear it open, spilling the feathers to the wind and then to come back".

The man did so and then aske the wise man what to do next. The sage told him to then go and gather up all the feathers, every last one.

The man said, "But that is impossible!"

To which the sage answered, "And so it is impossible to take back those words."

Yesterday, on our way home back to Texas from NM we were listening to Zigler(sp?) first time I ever heard of this talk show host, anyway a professional music agent who represents a whole bunch celebs, called in and said that the Apology issued was more likely written for the FAT DIPSY CHICK by her agent and not from her! She said agents usually write stuff for their clients!

i don't think it is so much about being critical of your President as it is the piss poor timing and the geography of it all. Maybe these three chicks are better suited for the Viginia Monologues than they are for the Country Music scene

for the record:

5/1/03 Greenville SC
5/3/03 Orlando FL
5/4/03 Sunrise FL
5/5/03 Tampa FL
5/7/03 Knoxville TN
