CJ, when I was stationed in Rapid City South Dakota in the early seventies, I was told that Rapid City, at that time, held the record for the greatest temperature variation in a twenty-four hour period. If I remember correctly, it went from below zero to 70 degrees within 24 hours.

I can attest that the weather was strange out there, not unlike certain senators representing that state.

I think Rapid City still holds that record. That's a phenomenon called a "Chinook." Warm air from a high pressure area in the southwest flows in behind a cold front. Usually the temperature change is not that pronounced. We get those here, too.
