Does Yao get to keep his take home pay or does he have to send it to the Chinese government?

LOL!!! Good question! Hmmm, sounds like a question needing further investigation....

It's a serious question. I heard someone ask it on the radio but never heard an answer. If Yao is still a Chinese citizen then his government may take his money as a citizen of Communist China.

I know that the Hong Kong film directors (who were doing great work in HK during the 1990s) all fled before 1997 when the Chinese Communists got control. Jackie Chan said that if he didn't become successful in America (he had tried and failed to break into the market in the mid 1980s) he would move to Austrilia or some other nation.

Jackie Chan, John Woo, Tsui Hark, Jet Li, and others all jumped ship. I just wish that they were getting better scripts and less Hollywood interference.
