Hadn't thought about it until I read your post, you're right. Add to that the homophobic card and that's about all the dems have anymore. But it works so well in the minority communities and how in the world do you prove you've never used it?

What does a candidate do when the only paper in town is a co-conspirator? Here in Mike Thomas' column we learn that he admires Barr, he tried to explain away Sheehan's accusations, he figured Dyer for a political opportunist...... but here's the last sentence in the story: I have criticized Dyer more than any candidate in the race. But the city is at too critical a juncture to risk Pete Barr as mayor.

There may be some juicy news on Dyer's campaign finances (aka walking around money) very soon.

Hmmmmm, after reading this story I feel hopeful that soon even the race card won't work anymore. Dyer bused in black voters on Sunday after church.

Television cameras readied for the stream of black voters expected to climb off the 47-seat bus to cast early ballots for Orlando mayoral candidate Buddy Dyer, whose campaign sponsored the Take Your Soul to the Poll effort.

But only four people stepped out. [snip]

The dismal turnout for the Soul to the Poll effort dumbfounded many black leaders and neighborhood activists, given allegations of racism against Barr.

"Any African-American who would align themselves with someone who offended their race is pathetic," said Mary Jackson, 50, a leader in the Colony Cove neighborhood off Mercy Drive. "AfricanAmericans are going to get Buddy Dyer in that seat."

But Don Spacht, 55, one of Barr's supporters at the elections office, says low turnout Sunday shows voters aren't responding to the accusations.

I'm optimistic!
