Glad to be of help...try not to "punish" him by putting him outside when he is bad...you don't want to equate "outside"="bad"...because you don't want him messing in the house either...
Shoo or pull him off the couch....saying "NO" in a deep and stern voice..then lead him to the rug or a BIG pillow and teach him to "SIT" "SIT"...then when he does it a few times...as he is told...you reward him with a doggie snack...and a pat on the head..and tell him "Good Shadow..good boy".

Neets, Neet, Neets, do it the souther style. You walk up to the dog carrying a big board and tell him 'I am telling you one more time to get off of that couch'. You then kinda rare back like you gonna knock in into tommorow and, it works every time.
