When was it made law...?

I believe it was at the time of the Church Committee...Frank Church, Senator-D-Idaho. It came on the heels of CIA involvement in Vietnam, Nixon-era shenanigans, etc. I'm pretty sure that's where the "firewall" originated. Anti-CIA has been a favorite shiboleth of the loony left ever since. (Funny, I've never worried about whether the CIA was investigating ME!)

I was confused because I've heard Hannity rail on about clinton's policies that weakened our CIA. Maybe Hannity was just talking about not allowing the CIA to use "the undesirables" for spying and whatnot.

UPI opines in a speculative frenzy that Turkish and American forces would destroy democracy in Iraq. Yes, democracy. Apparently, there's a little pocket of it among Kurds.

Great thread.

At least someone, somewhere has something right.

That's right. It was on Clinton's watch that the change was made prohibiting the use of "undesirables" for espionage. But on a larger scale all the Dems had the CIA cowered for years.

HERE is one of the best articles I've read in a long time putting the entire war on terror in perspective. To those who say: "What does Iraq have to do with al Quaeda?"...Hanson points out that in WWII Germany had NOTHING to do with Japan (other than their both being led by totalitarian dictators)...yet we had to fight both at the same time. It's a very insightful piece. (Trudge through the part about the Peloponnesian Wars...it gets better after that.)

I should have added that Reuters has picked up this mantra (Turks are very bad - especially now that they've reached an agreement with the evil U.S.)

Funny how the anti's used to complain that we had no Muslims on our side. I guess Turkey isn't "Muslim enough".

Thanks, that was a good one.

Another analogy to Japan and Germany is when they surrendered they complied with the agreements they signed and disarmed. If they hadn't should we have flopped around for twelve years throwing resolutions at them? How is Iraq any different?

Unfortunately for us that worthless fleshbag posing as a president who continually kicked that can down the road didn't do anything (just as bin Laden & Saddam knew) to right the problem.

A perfect fit for prison. Buh-bye worm.

Great White singer Jack Russell looks out to the crowd during a performance at the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino in Primm, Nevada, in this file image from September 2, 1999. Make that 95 killed now.

Those two men behind her are admiring another sort of piece. Maybe she can file a sexual harrassment suit against them.
