The most revolting sight at today's protests was all the hissing and booing of New York Policemen. Demonstators were calling them fascists and nazis. I wonder where all those folks were on 9/11.

I watched "The Way We Were" once. That was more than enough.
To: mountaineer
It was 55 degrees here in Utah today, and bright and sunny day. We need the moisture though...
To: Utah Girl
I watched the movie, and frankly I hated it. My friend loves it and said that it reminds her of her own lost love. Now I have to find a tactful way to discuss the movie without telling her that I thought that it was crap.

That movie makes me grit my teeth. Good luck on talking to your friend about it. Do you need money for the troops?
To: Utah Girl
I did spend the day grabbing up all the half price Valentine's Hershey Kisses I could get for the troops, so if you would like to contribute for postage, it's always welcomed.
By the way, another NO WAR sign has popped up in my neighborhood, so it looks like I need to make more I Heart Saddam signs.

OK. Money for postage is on the way. I do have to confess that my best friend and I went to The Foundry Grill at the Sundance resort (owned by Robert Redford.) Her husband was just deployed a couple of weeks ago, he is retired Army and is in the Utah National Guard. We had dinner and commiserated. Dinner was excellent, I just hate giving money to good old Bob. :)

To my knowledge, this has gotten NO coverage in the mainstream press.
We know the Bush administration aims to have all emergency health care workers vaccinated against smallpox by the end of February, right? But do you know that only 700 (of 500,000) have so far received the vaccine? Why? Because their public sector UNIONS are demanding COMPENSATION before they will agree to have their members comply!

Carol Mosley Brown made an appearance in Des Moines yesterday.
One person showed up to hear her.

As for union objections, the Bush Administration is preparing a compensation fund for anyone injured by the vaccine. But keep in mind that emergency workers already have insurance and worker's comp, and that health-care workers are already exposed to unusual risk of germs and illness as part of their daily lives.
Dammit - where's my fund?

Probably a homeless person seeking shelter from the cold.

I watched The Way We Were yesterday too! Oh my it was awful. I had seen it only once before when I was a teenager so I thought I'd renew my disgust for Babs and watch it.
Good luck discussing it with your friend without revealing it's crap! I'm thinking Babs didn't even need a script, that character was her through and through. An annoying leftist who sees evil and injustice everywhere. The thing that really creeped me out was the part where they finally break up after the birth of their daughter and they run into each other years later. As they gush over each other in the street we learn that Hubbel has no contact with his child and probably hasn't even seen her since her birth. How very Babs and Bob.
Which made me wonder, does Babs have any children, does Bob?
To: lodwick
Sorry to learn about your marriage to a sob Whom ever said "living well is the best revenge" knew what they were talking about. :-)
To: BigWaveBetty
I thought the same thing!! Here Hubbel is supposed to be this fabulous guy, but he never saw his own kid! I can see the ' true love lost' angle of the story, which is why my friend is so drawn to it, but both of the characters are so truly unlikeable. I think the movie is garbage.
BTW, Bob Redford has a ton of kids. 6-8 I believe. He left his wife somewhere around 1985.

Okay, I know you're kidding...right??? Please, oh please tell me you're kidding...I'm begging you, pleading with you...you're kidding...right?????I call 'em like I see 'em. :-) In comparison to what she looked like in this pic...

... and years later.
Her hair is combed, she has on make-up and has a nice figure. I think the transformation is stark!

I'm betting she was a republican in this picture and a dim in the first.
To: BigWaveBetty
Mercifully, Babs has not replicated herself.
Live well all.

I thought Babs and Elliot Gould had a son who's become gay, not that I really give a rat's patootey.
Snowing like crazy here - up to a foot is forecast. I forecast some cookie baking in the mountaineer household.
