I think it dawned on her that there was an alliance to vote off Joanna and she (Jeanne) knew nothing about it.

Deena has adopted an unusual strateegery.
She has elected to form an alliance with the members of her tribe the least like her...the young, attractive, single, weak, lazy, whiney girls. She conspired to vote out one of the strongest, hardest working (and annoying) members.
She is eliminating the preceived threats early.

I think this will back-fire.

The slackers may turn on her before the merge. (I can hear Heidi justifying her vote now: "She is so old, and not very pretty, and she has small OEM breasts...")

If they don't turn on her before the merge, she has weakened her tribe. The tribe that reaches the merge with fewer numbers usually ends up forming the jury.
