Nah, it's not random -- I'm pretty tired of whiney vanity posts. He didn't need to post a thread to do that. For me, that's "flying off the handle." An email to an admin would be more appropriate.

But, yeah, post a whiney vanity thread, and I will come. I once ran a contest for the top ten reasons people were actually doing that stupid stuff. I'll get you the URL to persuade you it's actually a bit of a hobby -- to get people to realize that admins are busy and not perfect and perhaps everyone shouldn't be so self-absorbed. It's not worthy of a thread to be suspended for a day. It's just not. Here, I'll get you the URL. It was pretty funny.

Well, Helix, we have that much in common. I'm active and you're certainly contributing, sounds like much more than me. I think perhaps that explains why you mentioned that's for spouses to do too. Because it does fall first to the family. But I can't let the leftists walk around these parts (I live in the DC area, where they do anti-war rallies a lot) without doing some activism to support our troops. They say they're not anti-veteran, oh but they are.

Well, I was a prosecutor for many years. I'm not a girly-girl kinda type that sits still. But, since you absolutely have an obsession for the fact that I'm a girl, permit me to ease your mind with the fact that I already quilt.

Believe me, I know. I've posted some research on FR in the past about Ramsey Clark, ANSWER and their funding. That and my personal closeness to the issue are why I get so upset when someone seems to be attacking a vet. So far my area has been fairly free of these idiots. However this Saturday, they are coming to Asheville, and my family will be able to counter them for a short time.

I'm sorry I flew off the handle "out of the blue". I've known B4Ranch to be very active supporter of our troops, a veteran himself, and a poster who is true to his word. I hope you can understand after seeing his apology in the reply above.

Yes. I guess I did get a little too excited about this thread. You know, Helix, I was just on the phone with Angelwood, one of our chapter leaders, saying I felt bad that I responded to the comment about "cheerleaders who just write letters to the editors" by insisting accurately that I'm an activist, -- well I don't feel bad about that -- but I do feel bad about the recognizing the name comment. I don't recognize the names of a lot of veterans and their spouses, but they stand and serve in a much more substantial way than I do. So I guess if people pull out their veterans credentials, I'm kinda going to lose on this grounds, LOL, as perhaps well I should.

I guess (without validating Pete's female comments!) I'm acquiring a bit of a "button" about vanity threads.

?? The general proscription against vanity threads is not based solely or primarily on bandwidth. But nice jpg. Hello? I said that repeatedly above. I never cited bandwith as the argument. I said that's not the sole or main reason against vanity posts. Whiney vanity posts are per se bad.

And you may think you get along fine with the FR administration, but that administration has a policy generally disapproving of vanity posts.

If everyone posted a thread because they were upset about something an admin did, sheesh.

The issue isn't bandwidth and it's not Freep names beginning with the letter "b." It's whiney vanity posts. We don't like 'em. Not just me. We.
