In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Thank you, VRWCMember, for today's WFTD!
anabasis, noun:
plural:anabases
1. An advance; an expedition.
2. A large-scale military advance, specifically the Greek mercenary expedition across Asia Minor in 401 B.C. led by Cyrus the Younger of Persia, as described by Xenophon. It was unsuccessful, and the Greeks, led by Xenophon, retreated to the Black Sea.
Etymology: Greek, from anabainein, to go up. See anabaena

It is quite nerve-wracking when he drives, simply because of how much traffic we have, If it's nerve-wracking, you don't have all that much traffic.
It's really quite safe, driving in Seattle. Since the Left decided 20 years ago that we'd quit building roadway, roads in the urban areas pretty much resemble parking lots -- other than having people in the cars. I had to laugh on my recent visit to Chicago (sorry, Heggy): the warning signs said "congestion", but freeway traffic was still moving -- and at 20 MPH average. Wow! Wide open, I'd say...

I can't decide if you should get an A+ for conspicuous bravery or an F-quad for conspicuous goofiness for voluntarily consorting with sharks. Oh dear! That is a tough call. I suppose you don't want to know that I am leaving friday to go to Belize to consort with said sharks?????????
To: xsmommy
Dear xs,
I figured a public acknowledgment would be in order as well.
So.....here goes:

Belize Belize! I've been hearing, for a decade now, of the Chinese "enclaves" threatening to take over the place. I'd be (more than) interested in a first-hand report (in part because my work currently involves much contact with P.R.China nationals).

Since I will be on a dive boat most of the time, I don't know if I will see much in the way of the Chinese. I will see if they are obivous while at the airport. They may have taken over the little shops. Who knows....

Then again, you might like it...... Will the lawyers be okay? Now Robert, you know that I never leave any lasting marks......
