Word For The Day, Wednesday 2/05/03
2/05/03

Posted on 02/05/2003 1:09:51 AM PST by Bella_Bru

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Thank you, VRWCMember, for today's WFTD!

anabasis, noun:
plural:anabases

1. An advance; an expedition.
2. A large-scale military advance, specifically the Greek mercenary expedition across Asia Minor in 401 B.C. led by Cyrus the Younger of Persia, as described by Xenophon. It was unsuccessful, and the Greeks, led by Xenophon, retreated to the Black Sea.

Etymology: Greek, from anabainein, to go up. See anabaena

Before starting our Iraqi anabasis
We'll try convincing France, our nemesis
That they should come along
Don't be weak; join the strong
Try to throw off your Gallic paralysis

IT is never too cold to ride.

back in 95, or 96, I rode mine with more than 8 inches of snow on the ground and Falling, to the liquor store for beer.

well it WAS getting rather chilly, but I did manage to make a quick tour of the neighborhood before retreating to the garage...

And I only waited since August. the normal wait for a new HArley is 12 - 14 months. This is one of the first dozen centennial model Ultras in the region. Other folks registered before me...

well now m-lady, that IS a good question indeed, but just how does one tell? I can simply say "Trust me" which might be accurate, or it might not.

I could also cite references, but that would be contrary to my nature - it WOULD be telling!

so I reckon I'll jess have to leave the decision up to you, and to respect your choice...

(now THAT has to be an even better fling than Washington flinging the dollar over the potomac!!)
