I will soon be looking (I hope) for some good chicken herding dogs, any suggestions? S-i-l suggested a pit bull dog but I don't know.

We had an Australian Shepherd once. That dog was so smart, he wouldn't let our daughter out of her sand box,every time she'd stand up to leave, he'd get in front of her and push her back down. My husband and I were trimming trees and I kept putting her in the sand box to keep her away from the sharp tools. Also she tried to climb the fence to look at the garbage collector and he'd grab her by her bottom and pull her down. He was soooooooo smart. He was a blue Australian Shepherd. Not a large dog but not small either.
