in response to ur comments in #376 that PJ would do ROTK "according to the book" hasn't all the spoilers indicated otherwise. Not to mention the elimination of the "Scouraging of the Shire?" And the time limits?

Well, the way I should have quoted PJ was that he said RoTK follows the book closer than TTT did. He said TTT was the biggest diversion. Many of the spoilers as far as I can recall follow from the book... That Pippin goes with Gandalf alone to Minus Tirith, that Merry pledges to Theoden, we have seen pictures of those things now. There are some changes that are assumed, that we haven't heard about.... Like if there is no scouring, Saruman has to be killed somewhere other than the Shire. Is that what you are thinking?
I do see a difference between 'leaving something untold' as Philipa Boyens explained the way Tom Bombadil was just not told, without being overtly changed, and the plot line changes where different people do different things. Some of those are good in the medium they are in, some I shake my head a little.
I don't know yet how the scouring is going to be handled, if by the telling of the movie it couldn't have happened, or if the story leaves open the possibility that in fact it might have happened and it just wasn't told. We shall see! It is gonna be a wild ride!
