Don't say we didn't warn you! Spoilers are what this thread is all about. So bring your rumors (substantiated or not!), spoilers, spy reports, and bones of contention about them here as the snippets of RoTK news, photos and interviews come rolling in.

I wouldn't even recommend pinging people to this thread unless you know they want to see them. There are a lot of purists out there that hate to have anything given away before the movie comes out. I, however, am not one of those.

I will start a "RoTK spoilers ping list" separate from the other Tolkien ping lists… so let me know if you want to be on the spoiler alert list!" If we use this thread for that kind of stuff, we won't shock people who don't want to see it. (though I bet they look anyway!)

One tip….. Don't embed images from TORN (TheOneRing.Net) on this thread. If possible, load the image to another server, or just post a link to the TORN page. TORN's servers are powered by fleas I think, and are horrendously slow, particularly when they have something that is particularly good!

I have never said he should totally shave, but just clean up a bit. ;

I just keep thinking about how horrible he must have smelled before he got cleaned up. I mean, he must have gone for absolutely weeks without washing himself or his clothes, and with all that hard riding, running, and sword-fighting too! Ick.

Great pictures, though, eh? The stuff of fantasies. It's nice to fantasize that somewhere out there, there might be men with a fine sense of personal honor, strength, integrity, and high courage, like the heroes of Middle-Earth.

New Return of the King photo... The boys are going somewhere!

Legolas, Gamling, Theoden, Eomer and Aragorn leading...

TORN is hedging about whether this is an Extended TTT pic OR a RoTK pic, but I don't think they are thinking it through. These guys were never all together in TTT. So I think they are riding to help Minis Tirith myself!

I have to agree Hair. It cannot be The Two Towers since if this was before Helms Deep, Eomer wouldn't be there. After Helms Deep, Gandalf should be there. :)

Where is Gandalf? Perhaps he had to ride ahead? Off checking on Saruman? - Off getting Pippin out of trouble with the Pilantir? - Maybe he was the one who took the picture.

Uh oh. If it's ROTK, then it's either from the ride to Isengard to confront Saruman (in which case, where's Gandalf?) or they're all riding together to rescue Minas Tirith - which would mean no Paths of the Dead? Maybe I'm missing another possibility?

Hmmm...

The Paths of the dead are "in". PJ loves ghouls too much to skip that, and there have been reports about the filming of it.

Must be going to Isenguard, maybe Gandalf had a wizardy errand and he will meet them there, or maybe they are just going on a picnic! ;~D I dunno!

You're probably right. I'm just worried about what they might cut since they've bumped a lot of important material forward to ROTK. I'm afraid that some great parts of the story will get short shrift. You'd think I'd learn to trust PJ by now!

It could also be a jaunt from Isengard back to Rohan, after Gandalf has ridden off with Pippen but before Aragorn heads for the Paths. But then, Merry should be in the pic. Hmm...

About the pic with Aragorn in his kingly armor. He doesn't get coronated until after Frodo and Sam return, I don't believe he reveals himself until after Pelennor Fields, so why does he have his king stuff on already?

Hmmmm.... Maybe all heros of Gondor get to wear stuff like that. Maybe the king stuff is even better!

He's revealed himself on Pelennor fields, and the picture is him, revealed, riding toward the Morannon for the last stand. Remember, they proclaimed all along the way that the king had reclaimed the land. Then the Mouth of Sauron came out and spoke to them. Showed them Frodo's mithril coat.

Anyway, that's what I think...I think he's riding toward the Morannon, proclaimed as king by Imrahil.
