It depends on your job. In Houston, if you work downtown don't live in Katy. Unless you ride the bus, you will never get there, unless you leave at 3:00 in the morning. And that's a straight drive with no turns. The Memorial area is nice; but traffic is really bad everywhere. Katy is pretty nice too and is really growing and the school system I understand is one of the best. I am not sure about the churches; but they do have a couple of new ones out there as well as the should I say regular standbys. Houston is a great place, except for the weather. If you don't suffer from allergies, you will. The weather, other than the traffic, is about the only bad thing in Houston that I can really say. The people are pretty nice and friendly. Oh yeah, the roads are not great. I don't know about the shooting ranges; but I know they exist. What is a CCW permit?

Your comment about Houston weather needs a little clarification. We have some of the best fall, winter & spring weather around, its just the summers that are difficult (& long). Its raining & cold right now but that is not the rule for winter. The D/FW area is nice but their summers are brutal.
