That's so cool, Mo. You're really getting your Dad's story pieced together. Keep it up. Yes, but my eyes are gonna pop put of my head from reading
Plus, it opens up other questions that I need to figure out
Like he joined the Army in May, 1942 but the 69th didn't start up till May, 1943 .. so where was he at between that time.
Then there is the story my mother always told that he was in the Battle of the Bulge which was in Dec, 1944 .. but the 271st did join in until Feb, 1945 .. but then I read that a bunch of guys were sent over earlier and they were in that battle, so now I have to figure out if he was there or not.
I sent out a few emails to men that were in the 271st so I guess I'll find out sooner or later with the story is

You are doing a great job piecing together your father's story. Some time ago, Swervie suggested that I get my father's service records. I now have a copy of his discharge papers, a good place to start. A friend at the range, who is retired army, suggested I write to my congressional rep, and send a copy of the discharge papers. I'm dropping that letter in the mail today. We'll see what I can find out. I'm going to ask my mom if she knows of any army buddies of dad's that may still be alive, but that's probably going to go nowhere. I can remember only one that dad kept in touch with, and Dad has been dead for 11 years. Any buddies of his would be late seventies, early eighties. It's worth a try, though.

Yes we do use all season tires. But this winter I wanted winter tires and he can get all new all seasons for the rest of the year. Then we'll have winter tires for probably 3 years. We'll actually BE PREPARED. That will be a new experience.
