Word For The Day 12/24/02
12/24/02
Posted on 12/24/2002 12:35:35 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Important teacher's notes:
There will be no school tomorrow. Class will resume on Thursday.
If you want to be on the WFTD Ping List, please let me know. I will be taking names all week and adding them to my new list. I scrapped the old list because of concerns raised on a thread about people be adding to lists without asking to be. Thank you for understanding.
And now for today's word....
jocund \JOCK-und; JOE-kund\, adjective:
Full of or expressing high-spirited merriment; light-hearted; pleasant, cheering, delightful
Etymology: Jocund is from Old French jocond, from Latin jucundus, pleasant, agreeable, delightful, from juvo, juvare, to please, to delight.
Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Have a Merry Christmas doubled.

Don't worry, I haven't seen it and don't intend to until it hits the movie stations late next year.

I'm going to the 11am show. I figure I can still get a decent seat then. (please don't be packed to the gills!) :-)

It sounded so odd, in this day of PC to actually hear MERRY CHRISTMAS instead of the generic happy holidays I know exactly what you mean.
I was in Sears the other days and just automatically wished him a Merry Christmas when the clerk handed me my receipt - he looked at me strangely and mumbled Seasons Greetings....it gave me a strange feeling.
Especially since the muslim gentlemen who owns a middle eastern food store earlier the same day wished me a Merry Christmas. Strange times in which we live.

The D's didn't want Lott gone from SML, just bloodied up... poor Rats. True, true. But their compatriots in arms, the liberal media, continued to beat this story's drum like a war drum. It was their helpful allies that got rid of Lott, instead of allowing him to be a broken token as the SML.
Hells Bells, even that snake Carville was backing down from the rallying cry, but alas, the more ignorant weren't. So, now instead of having a rather wimpy bloodied dufus, they've got a whole new player. This is really going to be fun to watch.

I am deliberately saying Merry Christmas. I don't go for this PC BS. And Gabz, have you noticed that most of the arab looking people are wishing you a Merry Christmas first? (I don't think this group is muslim... more like Christian and trying to avoid getting tarred with the muslim brush)
To: WhyisaTexasgirlinPA
Oh well now... if he's up for it, we are.

Some would vomit. YOU would laugh, but some would vomit.
Anyhoo, I don't have any nekkid pictures of me. Can't find a wide angle lens big enough...

opposed Thurgood Marshall's appointment to the Supreme Court And Clarence Thomas too. The only Senator to vote against both black Supreme Court Justices. I see the article omits Thomas.
