On another thread I saw where someone suggested that President Bush address the nation on the racial issue. I actualy think that is a good idea. I noticed that when he talked to the people in Philadelphia the crowd (mostly black) was quite receptive and believed him.
I am thinking that we will get such an address after Christmas, with all the hypocrisy on both sides discussed. Then, perhaps, we can finally begin to deal with this issue honestly.
At any rate, if the President does that, it would remove the issue from the table, and whether Lott goes or stays would be immaterial.
I agree. I'm hoping that President Bush can find the silver lining in this mess and we can have a decent dialog about race. I know there are problems, but this demagoguery and political capitalism is so counter-productive to truly solving the problem.
