Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Show them these guy's website! Tell them they work steadily making $200 an hour and they don't have anything fancy...I don't even think they have a sound system set up!

Beautiful!
"Music is a fair and glorious gift of God!" -- Martin Luther
"Music washes the dust of everyday life from our souls...." -- can't remember who right now

Ruh roh! There goes the price of orange juice...

I just KNOW we're plenty good enough to get gigs! But they keep saying we have to wait until we get a guitarist...or a drummer...or better equipment...or a better vocalist...
I say we need to GO for it, and through that FIND other musicians, if need be! Grrrrr!

(We don't NEED a fancy singer! Or a bass! We should just PLAY, for heaven's sakes!)

Amazing!! My local morning-radio guys were talking about the anti-anti-war protesters on their show this morning, and mentioned Free Republic several times. It was great. They said we were a good bunch of Americans. Yes, yes we are.
To: My back yard
Wow! That's great!
I'm off! See you later today.

Luther College is recognized as one of the best music schools in the countryMy wife went to Concordia in Moorhead, MN and they have a great music program too. Their Christmas concert was (and always is) phenomenal. It seems like all of the better private Lutheran colleges (St. Olaf, Gustavus, Augustana, etc) in the Midwest value excellent music programs. Now if that same appreciation could filter into the public school system... (My wife's mission in life)

Gondor has no guitarist. Gondor needs no guitarist. :)

LOL
I just keep telling them that if we want to FIND people to play with, the best way is by PLAYING! And as for singing, the Clancy Brothers didn't do anything fancy, and they got along just fine! We could do it! Just need to put together a set list and find someone willing to pay!

Maybe you need to join the church group before they'll be convinced.

Morning - I'm still catching up on posts, but at the rate I'm going, I'd better serve breakfast first! LOL!
Ham, cheese and egg biscuits with sausage links and, as usual, plenty of bacon strips for all (even the Dwarves). I stopped by the baker's and picked up some lovely rolls, muffins and pastelitos (Cuban lembas). Coffee is hot and ready to serve and I've also made some cafe con leche for those who need a kick start this morning. *grin* ENJOY!
To: Overtaxed
Maybe! If I start making some extra cash with another group...it might just be the shove they need!
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I got a couple of letters from St. Olaf too... didn't know what I was passin' up... good to be an Iowa boy
