Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Can I have this? Depends.... What are you going to do with it?
To: SuziQ
Was the shot in the head a suicide? That's something I just don't allow. Probably not a murder either. If it was an gunshot accident, well, there's a lesson to be learned there!
We always discuss that things are not real, and I think it really helped Matt and especially Josh to see the actors commentary and extra footage on LOTR. Seeing Boromit alive and well was a good thing and seeing an Orc dancing around to rock music only reinforced our telling them that it was all pretend.
To: 2Jedismom
uh, Boromir
To: HairOfTheDog
Depends.... What are you going to do with it? Not sure I wanna tell you. How do I know you're not one of Saruman's spies?
To: 2Jedismom
There's your answer then. Bruce Willis is shot early in the movie.
But you and Steve really need to watch it.
To: 2Jedismom
I think I just came as close as one can come to death by soda pop! - I haven't recovered yet! I opened a can of pop and took a drink, and massive carbonation literally exploded in my throat! - I couldn't breath, it came out my nose, and I think it is in my ears! I truthfully had to fight to not pass out!
If I never return, make sure my family has the coronor check for carbonation in my brain.
I have always disliked carbonation, preferring to pour my pop in a glass so it goes flat. I didn't know it would kill me though!

You're right...it sounds a bit more graphic than even LOTR.
Signs was good because it was obviously make-believe, but still scary enough to be fun.
You know the movie that had the worst effect on my youngest? You won't believe. King Kong. No kidding, the old old version. When they shot Kong off the Empire State building, Joshua burst into tears and was really upset! Then we watched another...I can't remember the name..."Gordo" or something like that, about a sea-creature that gets taken to a circus and it's huge mom comes and gets it...that was a good ending so he cheered up. But I couldn't believe his reaction to Kong dying!
To: Corin Stormhands
It occurs to me that there is no defense I can offer to that accusation! I cannot prove that I am not one of Saruman's spies!
To: HairOfTheDog
I'll say! You gonna be alright?
It's the little things that'll get ya. Like that poor guy that slipped on the ice, hit his head and got knocked out. Unfortunately he landed face down in the pet's water dish, broke the ice and drowned in it!
To: 2Jedismom
It's the little things that'll get ya. I really really don't want to die from soda pop.
To: 2Jedismom
Man.... I have big time vertigo. It is definately in my ears.
To: HairOfTheDog
I personally think it's a hoot when I start laughing and my soda shoots out my nose. It happens so rarely that when it does, it's so uncomfortable, but also quite the event.
To: HairOfTheDog
Lay down!
To: HairOfTheDog
I truthfully had to fight to not pass out! Good grief, be careful. We'd hate to have to tell people you drank yourself to death.

I don't want to lay down.... I haven't had the spins like this since college!
To: HairOfTheDog
ROFLOL!! The spins I had were not very much fun.
To: 2Jedismom
...it sounds a bit more graphic than even LOTR. Probably moreso because there's not the distinction between fantasy and reality. You don't see anybody's head chopped off, but the evil things that happen in The Sixth Sense are true to life.

Take it easy, Hair...get help if you need it. Are you going to have dried sugar in your eustachian tubes?
To: 2Jedismom
That's 'cuz you weren't with me! ;~D

I haven't had the spins like this since college! Who was it that said, "I don't do drugs anymore. I get the same sensation from standing up really fast..."
