It is a very cool train pic Sam!
To: RMDupree; ksen
Hi guys.
Do we know that TTT is still at Muvieco?
You like trains too, Ruthy?
To: Sam Cree; ksen
I checked yesterday and they still have it playing there. I imagine it will still be there this upcoming weekend, but I will check daily just to be sure they don't switch flicks on us!
What I really need for mini-moot is a ETA time from ksen, so that you and I can plan our Miami departure time accordingly. :)
As for trains, alas, I am not any more appreciative of them than the average soul on the street. But my buddy Thomas (appropriate name, doncha think?) just loves them! He has a huge mini train (tracks, mountains, the whole shebang) set up in his basement and bought a Tropicana orange juice car to add to his collection, just to remind him of me!
He's a dear friend who I've known since I was 15 years old!

Weird day in Hobbit-land, huh? All us girls off swooning. I suppose we should be glad the Dwarves have not kicked us out of the Hole...

Well, I knew we had been pushin' it with the boys here lately, so I built us a playpen! ;~D
To: All

an elf
To: Sam Cree
going to try again
To: HairOfTheDog
I appreciate the playpen, but Becky is once again resistant in going to sleep.
Thus, I am signing off for the evening and hope to see you all on the morrow.
Before I go though, I'd like to lay our some snacks for any Hole dwellers who happen by this night.
Italian subs, dill pickles, cheese and crackers, some lovely ale and delicious wine, fruit salad, mixed nuts and strawberry shortcake. ENJOY!

Sam: a rail as well?, us too; live half a block from the UPRR; when the UP ran their big oil Pacific (I think that was the class) 4-8-4; through town it was quite the show. Gad-I love steamers; grew up with Lucius Beebe on the coffee table.

Weird day in Hobbit-land, huh? All us girls off swooning. Well I wouldn't say that. Think I'll join Bear in the game room and watch some football or whatever until the slumber party is over.
Where's the beer?

"Well it's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville...etc...She was on that grade when she lost her airbrakes, see what a jump she made..."Can't quite remember all the words to Old 97.
I don't live near a track, but wish I did, love trains. I think that deer like them too, to tell you the truth, or at least like the right of ways.
Our house had Lucius Beebe books also.

Beebe & Clegg
To: Sam Cree
They gave him his orders at Monroe, Virginia,
Sayin' "Steve, you're way behind time;
It's 8:38, and it's the Old '97;
Gotta put her into Danville on time."
Chorus:
Well, it's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg down to Danville,
On a line with a three-mile grade;
It was down that line where he lost his air-brakes;
You can see what a jump he made.
Steve Brady he said to his black, greasy fireman,
"Shovel on a little more coal;
I'm waitin' to pass them wide-open mountains;
Gonna see the Old '97 roll."
(Chorus)
He's comin' down that line makin' ninety miles an hour;
The whistle broke into a scream;
They found him in the wreck with his hand upon the throttle;
He'd been scalded to death by steam.
(Chorus)
Well, come on now, all you ladies;
From this time on, now learn;
Don't you ever say harsh words to your true-lovin' husband;
He'll leave you and never return.
(Chorus)
(Instrumental bridge)
Well, he's comin' down that line makin' ninety miles an hour;
And the whistle broke into a scream;
They found him in the wreck with his hand upon the throttle;
He'd been scalded to death by steam.
(Chorus thrice)
To: Overtaxed; Bear_in_RoseBear
Yeah, that's right, Overtaxed, thanks very much, where'd you find that?...that wreck happened very close to where I grew up, the trains running on that line are still audible from the house. Very pretty country.
Where is Bear, anyhow?
