Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yes to make it weird tho, after the Navy, he spent the rest of his life working on the railroad. He bought a caboose that sat in his yard up on the banks of the river above the bridge for the main road thru town. I went to the cemetary this afternoon. Hadn't been there alone yet. Needed to.
Grama's dad was a section foreman for the RR. They lived in the railroad "section house." It was a 2 room house and there were 6 kids. Therefore, they had a freight car in their yard for theb 4 boys.
When I left the cemetary this afternoon it seemed like the world was all in symmetry when I turned north back toward the town where they all used to live instead of south toward Grama's house and the first piece of property had a freight car built as part of the housing.
Yeah, it's a redneck white-trash thing. But, it worked for me this afternoon.

P'raps you have misinterpreted some prior comments. I have successfully pirated and ravished even lately. Just 'cuz I don't talk about it *here* doesn't mean that it ain't happening... :-) I'm not the sort to kiss and tell. :-) :-) Just referrin' to all those times when you gotta think so long before doin' anything!

Not if her hair was on fire. Wait, did you actuallly try setting her hair on fire?
To: RMDupree
hehehe... howdy...
My buckles are in need of swashing. Working on that.
Just signed a lease today for my new swingin' bachelor pad. Now I just need to shop for the mirror ball, the shag carpet, the black light... all the usual stuff. Chicks dig that. :-)

There was a problem with the dog. Gee, a minute ago she was "a great person." Now, she's a dog.

Wait, did you actuallly try setting her hair on fire? It was an accident. At least that's what the police report said.

Yeah, it's a redneck white-trash thing. But, it worked for me this afternoon. I think it's great. Nothing wrong with rednecks and white trash.
When I was a kid I used to cringe at how "country" my family was (is). But the older I get, and the longer I'm away from there, the more I embrace it. They were solid people. With good, strong morals and work ethics. We need to admire them.
(plus it drives Jr. nuts)

That decor sounds like something out of Trading Spaces. Just call one of the kooky designers like Hildi...she'll hook you up!

WN; didn't find anything really cool plant-wise but a few we had to key out. They rarely seem to look just like they do in the ID books. Dang, there's a lot of plants out there. :-)
Hair; that Paul J guy on the dog thread had to be a troll. btw, good call on the boy-friend vs dog question. Same would have to apply for girl-friends.
I'd just have to include cats in the dog issue, though. We have been dog-less for periods of time over the years but have never been cat-less.

Gee, a minute ago she was "a great person." Now, she's a dog. No, no, no... she had a dog. A beagle. Neurotic beagle. Psycho dog. Dog with tourett's syndrome.

RMD - Cool, snack trays, thanks Ruthie, missed out on breakfast at hole today (as with most days).

Myranda never saw a section house nor has she seen the inside of a freight car. But, she used to love hearing the stories of the 4 uncles living in the car. There was a wall down the middle dividing it in half so there was 2 brothers to a "room." Grama & siblings have told many stories about things going on in the freightcar. All of them relatively clean --- except for the homebrew.
