Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh bear!
You don't know what good is! You don't like Butterscotch?
There was a man who was old as the hills that lived near my Grandma when we were kids. Used to walk up the big hill just for his Butterscotch he always had in his pocket!
Ramius! - The steel trap isn't letting his name out! What was it?

It had a plastic grid on the front and it busted a hole in the plastic grid about the size of a grapefruit. I kept it for years after that. One day it just wouldn't turn on.

I like plain fudge best most of the time, too. And plain chocolate, if it's GOOD chocolate, is wonderful stuff...
I miss being in Europe sometimes!
To: HairOfTheDog
You don't know what good is!Nope, butterscotch doesn't agree with my tastebuds.
Now, GOOD... Olive Garden restaraunts used to have a dessert called Chocolate Mousse Pie. It was made with, IIRC, 7 different kinds of chocolate: thick chocolate mousse for the body of the pie, chocolate graham cracker crust, chocolate chips on the rim of the crust, two kinds of chocolate shavings on top, etc. MMMMMMMMMMMMM...... I used to just take a forkfull, put it in my mouth and roll it around with my tongue while my eyes rolled back in my head....
Unfortunately they took it off the menu. Never understood why.

You guys have Friendly's ice cream down your way? They make a kind called "Forbidden Chocolate Explosion" that is incredible! Dark, dark chocolate ice cream, chocolate syrup (really chocolate...not the icky kind in cheap ice cream), chocolate chips, and some brownie chunks, too, as I recall. Even *I* can't eat much at a serving, but BOY is it good!

I sent that cartoon to TORN..... keep your eye out!
I have to go on some errands.... back in a bit!

I will have to look for Friendly's! HEB Creamy Creations (a store brand here in Texas) has a similar ice cream flavor, but they call it "Intense Chocolate". Very aptly named too! :)

ummm.. you guys know this is make-believe, right?
(hee hee - this was way too much fun last time- I got called a troll and everything)
How are you HOTD? and YES I AM JOKING to the humor-impaired
To: RosieCotton
Oooo Ritter Sport is VERY GOOD. I treat myself to that once in a while. I can get it at the local grocery store.

Humor is good, when it comes from a friend! Perhaps if you spent a little time here, you wouldn't be under the make-believe notion we are living in make believe! - There are good folk here. The best on Free Republic. Read beyond post 14 and see what we've been up to lately!

While we are waxing rhapsodic about chocolate, I read a recent item in Reader's Digest. It said doctors have discovered that a chemical in semi-sweet or unsweetened chocolate is as effective as codeine for suppressing coughs. But you have to eat 5 ounces of chocolate (several large bars) to get the effect.

Just curious, have you ever tried a Symphony bar?Yeah...not recently, though. My favorite milk chocolate so far is either Ritter Sport Alpenmilch or Ritter Sport Alpenmilch...neither of which I can get here. I think they use some goat milk instead of just regular milk? Something like that. In any case, it tastes slightly different, and I wuv it very much.
I'll have to look into Symphony again...

I used to have at least one a week since I could get them at the BX in Germany. Last time I had one was when my brother and I went to NYC last year. I miss them dreadfully!
