The whistle should have blown, making the touch unneccessary, but since it hadn't blown, Edwards should have touched him down. Again, unlike Warren Sapp, who was stopping another players efforts to involve themself in the play, and had to ensure that the guy stayed out of the play for an indeterminent period of time, all this required was a touch - End of play, mission accomplished.

Well, we'll see how it all shakes out when the refs hand out the fines. And since Sapp didn't get even a slap on the wrist for injuring a guy who BTW has yet to walk unassisted, I will be amazed if they fine Edwards for making a hit on the ball-carrier during a live play.
But stranger things have happened, I guess.
