( wild applause ) [ golf clap ] Often times the broadest knowledge is found in the simplest expressions, and I for one hope something will indeed be up the posters postior.
Oh sure, Jim could have waxed phylosophic and sophmoric for 30k of text (much like I'm doing here) about exactly how and why this gentleman is missguided into thinking he runs a forum thet he neither built, nor helps to maintain, but, in applying that kind of knowledge only culled from wisdom, Jim sums it up quite well in a short and to the point dis that is less than 7 characters in length.
Not any kind of moderator, just THE #1 or #2 moderator. BTW-- I'm not sure what your opinion of Black Racism is, but it's obvious that Jim didn't agree with you. Besides, your new FR name is not helping your case-- but maybe Jim has more of a sense of humor about these things, since this was moved to chat and not deleted, too.
Not always with the clarity and precision that you displayed.
"TigersEye" is an exhortation to see China for what it is. My feeling being that if you clearly understand China for what it is you will have the same sensation in the pit of your stomach as you would looking into the eyes of a tiger on some lonely forest path.
I shall continue to support this site.
Worth repeating
Let me cry with you .. write a letter to dorben2@excite.com . I send all of the trolls there . If you can get focused and actually apply yourself , you can also have a life .
Well, yes and no. This site is paid for by donations. Jim takes a nice cut -- from those donations.
In reality, Jim serves at the pleasure of his donaters -- they just might not realize it. He does.
Dr. Stokes: Sure
Mr. Dsouze: You think that dead cab drivers are a figment of my imagination? In the city that you live in New York City or the city I live in Washington D.C. there are very few White cab drivers. They're the cab drivers a lot of them immigrants, they are Pakistanis, they are Lebanese, they are from Barbados, they are from the West Indies. In Washington D.C. the vast majority of cab drivers are African Americans. They too are reluctant or fearful to pick up young Black males. Why? Because they are racist too. Everybody is a racist, they don't want to get a fare, they're just scared that you have a fever? No. The cab driver. . . you have a right to get a cab. I would be pretty damn annoyed if I couldn't get a cab. I have a right not to be inconvenienced. But doesn't the cab driver have a right to protect his property and his security?
Professor Marable: It's not about inconvenience. . . .
Mr. Dsouze: Hold on, hold on.
Professor Marable: It's about the law. It's about the law.
Dr. Stokes: Let him finish, Manning.
Mr. Dsouze: My point is the decision of the African American cab driver who is worried about the risk of having to. . .of leaving his wife a widow, who has somebody he doesn't know. . .that's the key issue. . .the point is the cab driver is not in the position to get to know you personally. In that sense he is different from the bank teller making a loan or the employer giving you a job. Those people can say, do you have a criminal record. You know, the cab driver has got to make probablistic decisions based upon statistics and probability. And so, that is what the cab driver is doing. The cab driver is basically saying what are the odds, what are the odds that this potential rider whom I would like to take and I would like to take the money, but I've got to weigh the chance of getting $10 from them against the chance that someone sitting behind me might pose a risk to me. The cab driver has to make that decision. All I'm saying is. . .I'm not saying he always make s the right decision. Some people are racists, but I am saying you cannot simply ascribe bigotry to his motives and if you do, if you do, then you have a huge disconnect between in a sense one sector of society that essentially goes around calling all the cab drivers racists. Even the non-White ones. They're all racists.
Professor Marable: Quickly. You took four minutes, I'll take forty seconds. I mean, basically you don't understand the point. You don't understand the point. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, no wonder you want to repeal it. You want to make people to make decisions. . .
