A note from Mom tonight - enjoy it.

Hi Loddy...thought I would send you an email, as this will probably be the last time, until after Thanksgiving that I will have a free moment to email anyone....I shall be busy....

Today, I had to do the Thanksgiving Day shopping....as I left the house, I stood and admired the new roof.....so pleased with it, and glad to have that done and over with....that crew installed that whole big roof in under 6hours....such nice, young polite fellas doing the work....I told the son of the owner of the roofing company, that roof is guaranteed for 30yrs, which is probably longer that I still have left on earth...he just laughed and assured me I would still be alive and kicking 30yrs from now...sweet kid....and so cute...If I was thirty years younger, I would have been a chasing him....he was a real cutie, and so sweet and polite....

When the roof was done, I offered the lads all a coke, but being as it was chilly, ,and in spite of the workout they had, they were gong to a restaurant for some hot chocolate....so when I was at the store today, I bought a giant sized container of hot chocolate mix, and a big box of Christmas candy to send along with a thank you card to the roofers....they did such good work, in such a short period of time, and we nothing but polite and informative and just a pleasure to have working on your house...they cleaned up every scrap of debris from the old roof, and you would have never guessed at the mess that was there, when the old roof was all scraped off....so I thought a thank you card, hot chocolate mix, and some candy were indeed in order....I am sure the worker bees will like and appreciate it....and I cant say it often enough....they were all so CUTE....I may be in my 50s, but I certainly appreciate handsome young men, as much as the younger ladies do....

Shopping at the store was a nightmare....it was just jammed with people, and the aisles were jammed with goodies tempting my wallet....having just raked out a fortune on the roof, I had planned to be careful with my money....but when one is faced with Plum Pudding Poinsettias(a wonderful shade of pinkish purple poinsettias), glistening fruits, big fat turkeys, and scrumptuous looking hams, trays of cookies, wonderful cheesecakes, and tortes, grand smelling home baked breads, and so much more, well, I fogot all about the budget and just bought what I liked...

Needless to say, my shopping cart was groaning and moaning with each roll of its wobbly wheels, ,and I began to wonder if the cart was going to survive my shopping expedition....would BigDom shoot me, as he had to unload the car, and scratch his head, wondering if we were on our way to the poor house now, what with paying for the roof, and my wild shopping expedition....ah, hes used to me, and my extravagant ways, while preparing for the holidays...all he was worried about, was did I buy enough beer, his favorite beer, and Andys favorite beer....

Thanksgiving....a time for eating like a hog, bursting your sides, drinking lots of beer, watching football, remembering past Thanksgivings, and reminiscing about those family members who have since departed to Heaven....of course, we speak of our MIchael, fondly, missing him, but feeling blessed for having known him, with his funny smile, and his wry sense of humor....and his courageous battle with leukemia, in spite of all the odds....we all miss him terribly, and the holidays always have a little dark spot for all of us here, when we miss our dear Michael at the holidays....but, as I said, we are so thankful for the 15yrs we had him, and loved him, and look forward to meeting up with him again, when our time comes....we feel he is waiting for all of us, with arms opened, a smile on his face, and a Welcome Home on his lips....We give thanks for this belief, and we give thanks for the blessings Michael bestowed upon us during his short, but oh so wonderful life....

After my jaunt to the foodstore, the Satillite guy was waiting for me, to readjust the satellite atop the house...it got out of alignment, when the roof was scraped off, and the new one put on, so we had to have a technician fix it....after all, Bigdom and Andy would never survive Thanksgiving without football games constantly on television.....

Then as soon as the satellite guy was done, the Parcel Post guy arrived, with a HUGE box...it was my new artificial tree, from QVC.....a prelit big, big tree, to go into the family room, to replace the one that last year crack out of its base, and fell down, and had to be held up for the rest of the Christmas season by ropes and bungee cords...how unsightly.....so the new tree arrived.....poor BigDom, just looked all around at the days shopping bags, and this huge box, and shook his head, and noted that we look like some sort of wholesale outlet store, what will so much stuff all over....ah, my cue to get busy, cleaning and fixing up the house for the Thanksgiving Day belly busting feast....

And so at this, the beginning of the holiday season to come, I wish you and yours a wonderful and memorable Thanksgiving..,It may be a trite saying, but we indeed do have much to be thankful for.....living in USA, is the greatest thing to be thankful for....the best, the greatest, the most wonderful and promising country on earth....where anyone can become whatever they wish, do as they wish, and have the freedom to say what they wish.....something I am sure, we often take for granted, because we are so used to it.....but it should never be taken for granted....

There are so many things one can be thankful for, and one of those is about the many different friends I have made over the years, on FR....how we have laughed together through good times, tried to console and help one another in bad times, and in general have shared much of our lives with one another.....its a true blessing to know those on DD, and smile and cry with each and every one of them....

So, please send along all my Thanksgiving best wishes to those on DD...may they have full tummies, full hearts, full lives....may we all remain thankful for those we have met along the way.....may we continue to prosper, and live our lives as we chose...may we bask in the wonder of our loved ones and families....may we realize that truly we have much to be thankful for....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING......

Lynn
