I have some FReep mails also explaining what happened (e.g. from Billie), but can't post them here without permission. Two of the allegations were that Snowbunny wasn't with the USO in Nam, and that she was fabricating letters from service people to the Canteen. Other allegations which I cannot list here of an adult nature.

I'd like to say something about the recent elections. I'm not sure how much the votes went for the Republicans over any specific issues other than maybe the war on terrorism. I suspect the Republicans could easily misinterpret the results as an endorsement for their policies, but I don't think it really is.

I think the key factor was definitely 9/11 and how much our country changed at that point. People who were willing to vote for all kinds of untested change - from health care to the definition of marriage - suddenly felt insecure about where we were going and wanted something that represented the known, the secure.

The Republicans were best able to capitalize on that feeling. Although I think the Republicans have many more "new" ideas, they still represent older values and their new ideas are rooted in what has been proven.

The Democrats really shot themselves in the foot by dragging their feet in the war effort and by failing to recognize the change in the country.

Hopefully Republican ideas on things such as school vouchers, SS reform, and tax reform will now be given a fairer hearing and even a test.
